Will the markets be open on Monday, since it's President's Day?

Yes. The markets will be closed on President's Day.

That's why I had the "dopey" smilie next to the last sentence. :)

EDIT: Perhaps I should change that to a :dunce: ... or both!

How did you do today?

I think I did pretty well today.

My return today was 1.22%, but I'm still down for the week at -0.36%. I rank #5 on the compo.

American Eagle (AEOS) did extremely well since Wednesday, it's up 2%. So did Nvidia (NVDA), which sky rocketed today, up 10%.

I had to drop AMD (AMD) today, it just kept going down by the minute. I kept FLIR Systems (FLIR), I almost got rid of it before the little rally it had at the end of the day. It's up 0.3%.

How can I tell how much profit I made? I'm such a noob. :)

To calculate total profit (or total loss in my case :grumpy: ), take your total equity and subtract it by 3000 which is the starting price.

Currently I have 2935.14 - 3000, or a $64.86 USD loss. :ill:

I'm still workin with a $63 USD gain eventhough I lost about $37 today.

Yeah .. for a few hours a couple days ago I was up to a $160 gain just from Apple alone.

MrktMkr's Random Trading Tip:

The debt to worth ratio (also known as the leverage ratio) is an important mesaure used to determine the amount of debt a company uses in order to finance the business. While some debt is good, too much debt can mean higher interest payments and/or the inability to pay off those debts. Like most ratios, the debt to worth ratio works best when compared to similar companies (i.e. GM and Toyota, or Microsoft and Cisco).

The formula for calculating the debt to worth ratio is:

Debt to Worth =

Total Liabilities

Despite the market plunge today, all My stocks were in the green! :sly:

I'm glad I had stop orders today.

This would be a good time to buy stocks when they are down.

This has to be a cruel joke. I sold AMD yesterday at a 7% loss. I couldn't lose anymore. Today, it's up 6%. WTF. 🤬

I thought AMD was going to suck today. Dell had announced that it would not use AMD chips, instead using Intel chips, for thier servers. AMD also announced their dual core Athlons on the same day, but I thought the Dell story would eclipse that, since we (nerds) have known about the Toledo core for some time now.

My total equity so far has bottomed out at $2,934.95 as of yesterday (according to the rankings). :ill:

I made some money today and it's up to about $2,950+. I totally forgot to make any limit/stop orders for the last trade. :scared:

The DJIA was up about 20 points today and is very close to it's 4 year high -- despite the fact that oil prices have reached about $53/bbl. :odd:

Hey, haven't seen you for a while Brian,. How'd the move go?

Apple lost me big time yesterday as their shares dropped about $2.55 each. Lost me about $100. So if they drop another $0.25 per share they're all getting sold and I'll have $1,600 to throw around :D. I don't want it to come down to that though because I see too much potential in my apple stocks.

I hope Take-Two does well today. They released the sell numbers for GTA:SA, over 12 million sold, $55 million dollars, a 74% increase over last year.

VTGT, you bastid, i can't seem to overtake you in the rankings!

i bought nvidia shares, seeing as to how my ati shares have been slipping a lot. and uh....now they're both headed downhill even more. :dunce:

i can't wait till we all get rich enough to buy ^DJI. boy what fun that will be.

Very well, thank you! :) 👍

Yeah, I hear ya. Don't forget to use a stop order, just in case. Today the DJIA hit its highest point in 4 years! Most everyone's stock should be going up today.

Don't get used to it  .. my Apple shares are picking back up from yesterday. Had I not bought Napster stock this morning right before they dropped about $.30 a share I would be ahead of you. I'm only down by like $10 as of this post, :). I'll be back on top once Apple returns to it's normal price, haha. It dropped about $2.25 a share yesterday, causing me to lose about $90.

But yeah I did have a good run on top for a while, hopefully I can pick that back up :D.

Yeah I did that last night to make sure I would atleast make $4.00 off of Apple. So far its up $1.50 from yesterday, which is a good thing when Apple is over half of your equity.
