Creator of the weight distribution setup theory/formula for springs, dampers & rolls bars that still works as good now as it did years ago on GT5.

Approved by such tuners as Praiano "I would like to find a way to make a good base before fine tuning and this seems good" (8/2011).

The same formula used by CORSE to create GTs first effective setup calculator that remains unchanged and as effective now as it did when created in 2011.

The purpose of this tuning garage is to provide 'base' setups for 0kgs ballast cars online and a service to adapt these base tunes to your own style and needs.

The setups are done using G27 wheel, 900 degres rotation, force feedback 6 & 8.


All setups are ballast free (wth a small handful of cars needing ballast to meet our regulations for certain series i.e. GT40 / Muira @ our 475pp historics class), 100% power limiter and no crazy ride heights (max /min) - suitable to be adapted for PRO and learner styles.

The setups are made with tyre wear in mind, designed to come good the longer the race goes on, and still having grip/balance at the end of a race or when tyres are wearing.

ALL SETUPS are tuned with STOCK wheels and NO body rigidity (option in GT auto)

We understand that no single tune will suit everyone, in some cases a single tune/setup could even be track specific. Most are likely to need tweaking owing to the large amount of variables that can affect a setup:
  • Driving style - aggressive / passive
  • Basic car feel - loose / planted
  • Tracks (GT6 has bigger diferences in grip levels between tracks than previous GT games)
  • Steering sensitivity differences (some guys have wheel with 200 or 300 degree rotation, others have 900 degree rotation, or pad users varying from minimum to maximum settings.
  • Whether tyre wear is an important or maybe even a vital factor, or it's not important at all..
Understanding these differences are a fundamental aspect of tuning for ballast free online racing, what works for one person in one situation has no guarantees of working for another person or persons in the same situation...


For tweaking/trouble-shooting to YOUR needs:

2) lifting off brakes / apex
3) exiting corner

Tried a couple of the GT3 setups and they work nicely, much more stable at low speeds. Nice one H!

No worries Zov, they'll probably need tweaking to suit you 100% for you to get he best out of them.. Going by what feedback people have been giving in the lobbies, things like brake balance seems to be a personal difference on alot of these cars..

Hopefully, if PD can sort out the R8s we can go ahead with the GT3 championship as planned next season.. :D

Your setup for the R18 is excellent... it's a very good baseline for a lot of circuits, had great fun testing it out at Silverstone last night.

Thank you, I used it offline for the Super events and it seemed to do the trick. Some people have used it online too, but I haven't tried that yet, so don't know if it works aswell there, but they seemed to be happy..

If you want any help fine tuning it, just let me know what "more" you want, grip/stability//car to move around and I'll try and help...

Thanks. I'm just hot lapping and testing it at the moment, haven't got past iB yet on offline so haven't had a chance to try it in race conditions, nor offline either as I haven't seen many LMP rooms yet.

It was good for Silverstone (where I was doing most of my testing), was looking for just a little more front end, but that's my personal preference. I'm quite heavy on the front tyres because I carry my braking zones well into the corner, so a front that scrubs out slightly creates more wear as I'm overheating them sometimes. If you can imagine going into Brooklands from the Wellington Straight, I'm extending my braking well into the apex there, but that creates a high load on the outside front. I'm looking to reduce that but still get the bite from the tyre.

Ok, no worries, solving it won't be a problem, only problem is when I can't see what's happening (I'm used to watching my friends and looking at what happens to tyres) it's a bit more long-winded to solve.

Sometimes "indirect" tuning can help, what this is is changing something on the rear to impact the front, or "direct" tuning is how it sounds, changing something at front to make front better. One way of determining this is the level of grip at the rear, if this car / setup combo has alot of grip (to the point of being too much), then this might be causing the front to understeer, meaning the car is "forced" into the corner (and wearing the front tyres), rather than "flowing" into the corner and helping to save the front tyres.

As you say you are over-heating he fronts, it could be the rear being too planted, or the front end (dampers / roll bars) aren't quite right and need adjusting.

Possible solutions:

Lower front dampers (both comp and ext) to 3 / 3
Raising rear brake to help car turn in under braking
Taking off some rear toe to loosen the rear end a bit, maybe try something quite low (like +0.02), aslong as the car is still remains stable at the rear.

EDIT: I agree that it could be a case of taking something away from the rear to help the front, but I'm reticent about doing that because it's so stable currently... but let's see what happens!

Both these should help front end without impacting too much the rear, it's difficult as I haven't driven this offline for a while and been fine tuning online setups past few days, so not 100% sure which way to go... but all the suggestions should work in one way or another, just depends which works the best without loosing what you like about the car.

NOTE:

Mid turbo gives smooth power out of corners, but has sharp drop off, so short shift or adapt your gearing to maximise mid rpm power. Probably want to change from MID turbo if racing at top speed/power track.

For more lift off turn in, raise fr ride height and lower rr same amount, change 3mm at a time i.e. 135/ 132, 138/132.

Recommend running long 1st and 2nd gear to help put power down, with mid turbo it helps to protect front tyres from too much wear.

Car feels pretty balanced without use of custom diff, so why ad one. Normal 4wd tuning methods unsettles the car, a case of less is more with this.

Yeh, the calculator makes it pretty easy to get a base tune, and so much of what worked on 1st gen physics on GT5 works now, so it's not too hard..

Cars like the FF/FWDs can pretty much use a general setting for nearly the entire setup, only the springs need to be exact for the car - this may not be "perfect" for every case scenario, but it's so much better than stock, and/or going round in circles trying to work out whats 'new', when not that much actually is..

I'll be making a list/OP link pretty soon, just finalising a possible "general" setting for the different drivetrains - well, seeing if it's possible... Not too far off, we'll see if it can be done..

NOTE: as with early GT5, PD screwed up the diffs/ayc on the EVOs, but in GT6 they have really gone to town. The AYC is "copied" onto the custom diff initial setting!!

It looks a bit weird, and we thought it'd screw the car, but it didn't...

PD will have to patch this at some point, so we'll have to re-evalute the EVOs setups when that happens..
