Has the Wheel destroyed your skill with a DS3?

Booted up F1 2010 for a quick spin around Istanbul Park to re-familiarise myself with the track in preparation for this weekend's race. Wouldn't even consider it on GT5, but figured to save time I'd just run with the DS3.

After 15 minutes of trying to get the button mapping right and another 10 of continuously bining it, I rage quit. Then got the G25 out!

Will never play another racing game without it.

I still use the pad for a quick 15min game stint, but Honestly I've become much faster and accurate with the wheel. I didn't think i could change directions faster with the wheel than with an analog stick but apparently I can. Its weird. I'm a bit dodgy with the DS3 now.

I started the GT Series playing GT3 with the logitech driving force pro. I have progressed through the rest of the series since GT3. I recently bought the original Gran Turismo to see where the series started from. Obviously using a wheel is not an option and am forced to use a controller. All I can say is holly cow it's hard. Hats off to all of you who are proficient with a controller.

I didn't know you could still play this game with a DS3.
I think Original PS games are compatible with PS3. They didn't make the PS2 games compatible cause they want your money for a PS3 and new games.

Fairly new G27 owner here. The only thing that I find easier with the DS3 over the wheel is recovering from a spin. Other then that, the wheel is a lot more satisfying.

Same here, faster overall but drifting is fricken hard with a wheel. Need someone to teach me the ways.

First time I ever play GT5 was with the wheel. After a weeks on I got lazy and tried a event with the pad for the first time. Couldn't use the DS3, I was zig zagging all over. I wouldn't play GT5 any other way besides using a wheel. With DS3 your playing a game, with wheel you're driving.

I use the wheel for real driving for feel, or just to have faster times.
I have been more frequently racing with a DS3.

So my answer is no.

Thankfully, I never had to play GT5 with the DS3, since I got the PS3 and GT5 in a bundle with the Logitech MOMO.

Bought Shift 2 and GRID 3 recently, both of which don't support the MOMO. Gave up both of them within the first two hours, it's a mystery to me how anyone can drive half-decently with the controller.

I only have this problem with the DS3, though. Playing Forza 3 on the 360 with the controller is fine - its size helps, I think.

Have you switched to a wheel from a DS3 or a DS3 from a wheel? Are you still able to master the one you switched from? I went wheel from DS3 and every now and then use the DS3 to run races instead-off pulling out the wheel. I stink with the DS3 now.

I absolutely need throttle control and a wheel for threading the needle through corners.

I can't do full gas, full brake, and slamming the wheel left and right (which is the equivalent of the controller). Doesn't work for me.

Then again I consistently get whooped online by racers that do use a DS3 so...

I've been using wheel for racing games way before I found GT2. In fact I bought the original PS, GT2, and a racing wheel all at the same time. Never used the DS for racing so I don't even know if I can use it for racing or not.

Have many people upgraded from a wheel to a DS3? Seems rather odd that one.

I've been DS'ing since GT, besides I play more games than GT5, so my DS abilities aren't letting me down :)

For some reason playing Forza 3 with the 360 controller seems a lot more . . . comfortable (?) , than playing any racing game on the PS3 with the DS3. Maybe the 360 controller is somewhat more ergonomic. I do use the DS3 when playing B-Spec or just mucking around with my cars, painting, reading the write-ups, or just goggling at them. I don't like to drool on my wheel, either.

I have to use a DS3 when I play at my cousins house, though - he has just one wheel, and I believe he takes it to bed with him, so it's hands-off that! I'm not as good with the DS3 now as I used to be. Yup, I guess playing with a wheel (which I do when I play A-Spec) has spoiled me rotten.

I'm faster with my dfgt however when I only have a short amount of time to play the game I ussualy don't bother getting my dfgt out so use my ds3. I'm not as fast however can still win the seasonal events and such, and am better at drifting with my ds3.

However for straight out racing I'm considerably faster with my wheel.

i have a logitec G27, and now i am absolutleey horrible with the dualshock!
im not even up to snuff on call of duty anymore, and i used to be pretty good!

My skills with the pad havn't really gotten much worse, I play GT5 with a pad and wheel almost equally.

Played GT5 with a wheel since December up until 10 days ago when I moved back home for summer. At home, there isn't a good place to set a wheel and PS3 up.

I've noticed my lap times are slightly better with a DS3 than a wheel though, but I have more fun with the Wheel.

The DS3 destroyed my skill with my wheel

No_OB

Just bought a new one after my DFGT broke a while back in Prologue Days. Now I'm having to chase down my DS3 Lap Times
