I'd prefer the Maserati over the Mercs but in reality I'd take your 986 :)
I don't think I'd like making the drive from Houston to the NW corner of the Texas panhandle in a 5 speed Porsche Boxster. :scared: 720 miles before you even exit the state, and almost every bit of it pancake flat  That seems like the right mission for a CL.

Assuming no mechanical anxiety/apprehension, which of these 3 would you take on a ~3,000 mile road trip to Aspen, CO and back?
Definitely the CL. Radar cruise, fantastic driving position that the S doesn't have, plus it's ultra quiet which the Maser definitely is not. Have driven it back and forth from Bay Area to Scottsdale AZ twice.

Maserati is super high strung, and really not as much a GT car as expected. Dead pedal is too close, it doesn't have a muffler, and it revs 3000rpm at 70mph. Much better sports car for windy roads.

Now if I could just find a set of OEM ski racks.

Just passed 1000 miles since I've gotten the 4200 back from gearbox service. I'm really loving driving this around all the time, it's a blast. Next are tires, inner tie rods, and driver window regulator. Great for doing the coffee shop runs.

S65 has had the check engine light on for a bit, and its due to an issue with the secondary air system. I can hear the pump running, so it must be one of the valves here that direct air. The one on top seems clean, so I took off the other one and it's pretty dirty. Thought I could steal one from the CL, but they are different! Ended up spraying it in carb cleaner and it seems to have cleared since.

I know you probably got your hands full/wallet empty with "keeping it on the road" but what if you took your Maserati and spent probably a ton of money instead on

Right one of the greatest wrongs in recorded history.
