Help needed on SimCity 3000

I was just wondering what everyone's stragedy is for getting started with a new city? I can't seem to figure out how to start a city from scratch and not end up in the red

Yeah I'm playing sim city 4 right now. It's much harder, but finally I seem to have put together a decent working city. After 3242342 tries.

But yeah, you could probably find some good guides on the internet.

Try www.strategyplanet.com and choose sim city.

make sure that the homes are on nice land, and that they are far away from the garbage dump. Make the streets as efficent as possible (as few intersections as possible). try and use cleaner forms of energy.
