As we were leaving Florida yesterday it was very dark, windy and noticeably colder than usual. The cross winds were blowing the car about on the way to the airport. Would that have been because of this or did we just hit bad weather?

My wife said it was windy and rainy, as the storm's center was about 100 miles offshore. You received a little more "Florida" for free...

Yeah, it's from Sandy. The radius of tropical storm force sustained winds is about 400 miles from the centre.

I'm living 4 miles from the shore in central New Jersey.
This is going to be interesting. I'm going to get hit head on.

My family has a beach house in Atlantic City.... I can't wait to see what happens to that once this is over

And I thought I had experienced the worst of what Sandy had to offer.

All the best to those on the East Coast. 👍

Didn't get to play in the snow much last year, maybe this year will be different. Looks like a good start! Be safe out there.

Lots of GTPlaneteers in the way of the storm seems like. :nervous:

Keep in touch, guys. Good advice from Pupik - looks like he's survived this many times. Today and tomorrow is going to be windy and wet - bigtime.

EDIT: Now the quake that hit Western Canada is the cause of a tsunami warning for Japan. Waves expected today, Sunday.

There is a good chance that this will be the only Hurricane Sandy to exist (I believe its also the first one). Expected track has shifted back north from Delmarva's peninsula to now it appears a direct hit on Toms River, NJ.

I am exactly three miles south of Toms River, NJ.
🤬

I'm going to have to dig out NFS for when the Internet goes down in this area.

And the power goes out, where one logical assumption would be that evacuation might be mandatory there.

Geez, this is looking 🤬 bad.
I know it is pure speculation still but 800 miles inland could be affected if this ugly thing moves slow. 3 feet surge :nervous:
That is unherd of in NA east coast.
I hope you guys will be alright

I live 30 miles from the epicenter of that quake. Made one loud ass bang.

I hope so too.

That said New York is in a state of emergency. They are launching mass evacuations.

You've got a 90 percent chance of tropical storm force winds, and considering the size of the storm you'll probably have them for 36-72 hours. I wish you the best of luck, it looks pretty grim for your area. Also, your power is likely to go out, because the ground will become saturated and 50-60 MPH wind gusts will bring trees down.

Also, here's another map which shows how incredibly HUGE this thing is:

I'm also the dark red.

The wind started about ten minutes ago. And hour ago there was nothing, but now...leaves. Leaves EVERYWHERE.

Yes indeed. Hope wawa stays open eh?

Some of them are out of the important necessities. One of the Wawa's near me ran out of gas yesterday by 12:30 PM. Other stores are out of generators and low on non-perishable food. I'm lucky I supplied before.

I managed to pick up 21 D batteries at Toys R Us. Had to drive for over two hours yesterday before I found them.

From the chart, I'm around both yellow and light green (I'm from Pittsburgh). Hoping that the storm doesn't deal much damage over here. Best of luck to those effected by the storm.

There was a big blow here yesterday, and last night, all the Fall foliage is down, the streets and parking lots are ankle deep in leaves. It was sudden. No rain now but the skies are leaden - grey, gloomy, brooding.
Nothing to what some of you guys are bracing for now though.

BTW - Aren't the GTP servers located in Manhatten?

It has been raining where I live for last half hour or so. It is slowly picking up but so far the wind has stayed at a steady pace. Not too hard but there is still some wind.

I'm quite confident that Manhattan has made any and all preparations for disasters.

Really? Now I think I gone and scared myself. We are about to get hit spot on and all these news stories are saying it may be worse than Katrina. I hope it's all media hype with no substance. It's going to be hard to imagine what'll happen if anything happens to the casinos because a lot of us around here need those businesses to survive.
