Are you trying to remove windows media player? You can't do that way or you'll cause errors. This is for Win XP but it could work.

Well I'm trying to reinstall it because it won't play any file that I have. It says it has encountered an problem trying to play the file.

Windows components should be reinstalled through the 'Windows features' part of the control panel - control panel > programs > turn Windows features on or off > expand Media Features > uncheck Windows Media Player > reboot > check Windows Media Player > reboot.

If you really must delete the WMP folder in Program Files, you'll need to take ownership of the folder before you can delete it.

What file won't it play?

You may need a codec pack.

I'm trying to run some Mp3 files and it just wont work. Its been like this since last night and it is really pissing me off. I'm on my moms computer and it works perfectly fine. I can hear the music and everything. I have no clue what happend.

It looks like you need permission from me, as my name also happens to be Phillip. I can't help you with this, but it seems like the message I get where it says only the administrator can delete something.

May I have permission to delete ?

If you Right Click on the Folder > Properties > Security. Who is listed as having Full Control and/or Write permissions?

If what Sharky. said didn't work.

Click start>type in CMD in the search bar>right click command prompt and select run as administrator>type in sfc /scannnow.

No. No you may not. Now go get me a beer! Then you may delete. Unless the computer says otherwise. Then you are s**t out of luck.

Or you could find another Phillip in the world (make sure Phillip is spelled with 2 L's, the PC knows. Trust me) and get him to give you contractual permission to delete the files. That may work. If that doesnt work, try these here steps. They are guaranteed to work:

1. Buy a bulldog puppy and name him Sam.
2. Spread Jif peanut butter all over the hard drive.
3. Perform an exorcism on a chicken on an overcast Thursday morning.
4. Scrape the peanut butter off the hard drive with a plastic spork and fling the peanut butter on to your front door in such a way that it makes an irregular decagon if you connect the small splatters.
5. Replace every light bulb in your house with a magenta tinted bulb.

It should work now :D

On a serious note, these problems are a complete 🤬 to deal with. I have them sometimes. What I would do is save a back up of all files you want to keep on external flash/hard drive and reinstall the operating system which will restore the computer to factory settings (you will need the disc for the operating system).
