Season 2 of the IRS GT4 Championship Series

Note: Drivers will be permitted to change cars before the start of the Season. A perfect opportunity to make that decision would be following the exhibition/classification race. Once the season starts car changes will not be allowed. Choose wisely! Any driver that can not attend the classification event should at least run some tests on their own or with others to get a feel for how competitive they will be. Maybe even apply some ballast in one of your test if you think you may accrue some (ballast) during the season.

Season Starts Monday September 30th!!

Welcome to the main page for Season 2 of the IRS GT-4 Championship Series! This series is open to all drivers. The series will have an 10 race season with one special event mid-season. This series will only be open to select FR and MR vehicles from the Gr.4 category in game. (please see the list of eligible vehicles below). Only three cars per manufacturer will be made available for competition. Car selection will be on a first come, first serve basis. Series organizers will post the date and time when drivers can request their vehicle of choice. Any vehicle requests made prior to this date and time will not be honored. This is to be sure all participants have a fair chance at using their vehicle of choice.

IMPORTANT - There will be an "Exhibition/Classification Event" held to determine whether there will be a need for a Pro and Pro-Am driver split within the series. If it is determined that drivers will be split into categories any participant who missed the classification event will AUTOMATICALLY be placed in the Pro split.

The following Gr.4 cars are eligible for the series (GT Sport BoP stats listed ):

BoP Statistics revised September 12, 2019

  • Honda NSX Power = 94%/370 hp - Weight=107%/3,208 lbs
  • V8 Vantage Power = 99%/395 hp - Weight = 107%/3,183 lbs
  • Ferrari 458 Italia Power = 99%/370 hp - Weight = 105%/3,124 lbs
  • McLaren 650S Power = 95%/379 hp - Weight = 110%/3,153 lbs
  • Chevrolet Corvette Power = 94%/389 hp - Weight = 110%/3,274 lbs
  • Jaguar F-Type Power = 100%/399 hp - Weight = 106%/3,155lbs
  • BMW M4 Power = 98%/386 hp - Weight = 106%/3,188 lbs
  • Ford Mustang Power = 102%/404 hp - Weight = 105%/3,241 lbs
  • Porsche Cayman Power = 94%/357 hp - Weight = 109%/3,124 lbs
  • Lexus RC-F Power = 99%/415 hp - Weight = 104%/3,210 lbs
  • Dodge Viper Power = 92%/394 hp - Weight = 107%/3,302 lbs
  • Hyundai Genisis Power = 101%/388 hp - Weight = 102%/3,036 lbs
  • Mercedes SLS Power = 97%/406 hp - Weight = 105%/3,274 lbs
  • Toyota 86 Power = 98%/352 hp - Weight = 104%/2,751 lbs
This series will be utilizing GT Sports in game BoP for race 1. Following the results of Race 1 Ballast will be applied to the top 3 finishers in the following manner:

1st Place = 3% weight increase
2nd Place = 2% weight increase
3rd Place = 1% weight increase

Please note - the maximum amount of ballast a driver can accrue throughout the championship is 5% points. If a driver who has accrued ballast finishes outside of the top 3 in subsequent races 1% point will be removed from their total for the next event. These regulations are not intended to cripple faster drivers to the point that they are not competitive.

Only three cars per manufacturer will be made available for competition. Car selection will be on a first come, first serve basis at a pre determined date and time. Vehicle selections posted prior to that time will not be honored and participants will have to re-submit their choice.
  • Using the stock livery is prohibited.

At the conclusion of the formation lap, the driver on Pole will start the race upon approaching start/finish.
  • Fuel Consumption setting at the start of the race will be at 75 liters - this is intended to force at least 1 pit stop during the race. In the event that the race host fails to set the fuel level to 75 liters drivers WILL be expected to make a stop at a point in the race to be determined by them. This shall be considered a mandatory rule.
Races will utilize a Rolling Start Procedure with 1 FORMATION LAP.
  1. Speed is not to exceed 70 mph
  2. Keep a safe distance from the car in front during said formation lap.
  3. No tire warming in the final sector!

The series will follow the points structure listed above throughout the field. Meaning: even if there are two classes drivers will earn points for their overall finishing position. For example: the "winner" within the Pro-Am division will be awarded points based on their overall position. If they finish 5th overall but won 1st in their division they will earn 14 points, not 25 points.
In case of championship tie after the season finale: 1 Bonus point for most wins in the season. If there is still a tie for the lead then most podium finishes will be taken into account.

The mid-season Special Event does not award points towards the overall Championship.
Season 2 will have a team competition element.
  • Pro or Pro-Am drivers are not permitted to team up with another driver in the same category. Pro drivers may only team up with an Am driver and vise versa.
  • Team members do not have to be in the same make & model vehicle.
  • You do not have to have a teammate to participate in this series.
  • Just submit a team entry.
  • No more than 2 drivers per team.
  • Team Points are the total of the 2 cars added together.
  • You will only receive team points after signing up as a team.
  • Front Runner Award (Most wins in their driver category)
  • Pole Award (Most pole positions, only the overall Pole winner is considered for this Award)
  • Team Championship (The team that scores the most points in the season)
  • Pro Driver Points Champion (The Pro driver that scores the most points in the season)
  • Am Driver Points Champion (The Am driver that scores the most points in the season)

I found your IRS season1 thread early this morning. I came back to GTP to ask when season 2 was going to start and I find that you've just started a thread for it, @Clean Racer. Count me in for S2.

Sounds good.

BoP numbers have been updated in the "Car Regulations" spoiler tab.

Two new Manufacturers have joined the series: Mercedes and Toyota.

Could you please sign me up, boss??? The team has accrued the necessary funding to put me back behind the windshield for another season!!! Even though I have the needed funds to race next season I am a bit curious as to the prize share in due for the season 1 championship, I do not recall that being discussed yet.

I'll get you signed up tonight. I'm using the phone right now. Good one on the prize stuff.

Seven Sign ups so far! :gtpflag:

The event on the 23rd will help determine what category (Pro or Pro-Am) drivers will be placed. It's based on overall pace amongst the drivers that are participating so we will have to wait and see what that outcome is.

Season 1 was a lot of fun and there was some really close racing with strategy coming in to play as well. Season 2 features some changes that should make things even more exciting.

EDIT: some of the changes from Season 1listed below...

- Tire wear was lowered from 3x to 2x for Season 2. This was done to help DS4 users better manage tire degradation. Many don't know this but DS4 users suffer greater tire wear compared to Wheel users.

- Qualifying will feature the same fuel consumption and tire wear as the race. In Season 1 Competitors were put off by the change in car behavior and predictability from Qualifying to Racing due the difference in tire wear.

- Season 2 was increased to10 races and 1 Special Event between Race 5 and Race 6. Season 1 had 8 races.

- Drivers will have 1% ballast removed upon finishing off the podium. As opposed to finishing outside of the top 5. Even with added Ballast the fast drivers were still finishing in the top 5 and suffering from the added Ballast much longer than necessary. It should be noted that Season 1 featured only 1 category of driver. The goal is not to make fast people completely uncompetitive but to create a racing environment where closer racing is likely to happen. It was mostly successful in Season 1 and this change should be an improvement on that idea.

I am putting a poll up. There is one element of Race Settings that I am willing to change; and that is Heavy Damage.

Is Light Damage preferable to you guys, the competitors?

I'll throw my hat in the ring, but will probably be a part timer. I don't have all the specifics figured out yet but figured I'd state my interest now.

Considering how often I bounce off the walls... I'm going to vote for light damage.

@Alan_2134 and @Whitey093

Car selections will open on Monday September 16th at 4pm. The only car that seems to be in high demand right now is the Dodge Viper. Bare in mind that the limit is 3 cars per manufacturer. The likelyhood is that most, if not all, will get their prefered car. Especially since there are 15 manufacturers to choose from. Remember though, it is first come first served on selection day so be sure to submit your car choice in a post on here as soon as it opens up. Thanks for your patience guys and thanks for signing up.👍
