If its Failed to Join Room, or Network Incompatibility then it's your Internet.

Mines does it all the time, particularly annoying if you're excluded from races or just general online fun with your friends! :(

Your internet obviously isn't broken, or else you wouldn't be able to even get into the open lobby, and you certainly couldn't post here.

Your internet isn't broken, just slow. And there isn't much you can do to fix that. Especially if you can't get higher internet speed in your area.

time outs, network imcompatibility and some other....

sooo, its my internet? its 50 mbit down and 6 mbit up so speed is not the problem...

router issue? i have 2 routers, an internet router and the other another that splits my internet between pc and ps3...

What is your NAT type? If It's 2 you don't have a problem.

Not always true, I have 2 people in our group that are both NAT2 however they cannot joins the others room. If they get into a 3rd party room they cannot see or hear each other.

Yeah it's more than likely a router issue. Search the forums there are some fixes for it. Sorry I'm not that good at it or I'd help.

Are you ever download/uploading things while you play GT5?
Because if you decide to do that, you will not be able to join a single room.

Also, how far away are the hosts? It could be a ping issue

That would be your problem.
If you upload anything, it will eat your bandwidth like a fat kid eats cake.
And even if you download things you wont be able to join rooms

how do i check my nat?

Go into your ps3 menu into the internet connection, do a test, and your nat will be displayed near the bottom.

You're probably a 3 like me, there's solution to fix your problem if you dont have a crappy router like mine.

Perhaps a crazy raccoon stole your router?

Edit: thread killer....

Your ps3 is connected to the internet behind a firewall.
DMZ it. Should solve your connection problems.

To play successfully online, minimum requirements are about 2.5mb down and 1mb up. So you're fine that way.

Yeah, that's me too. lol

I have a NAT1 connection at 512k download until tomorrow when it resets. Was playing fine in European and North American hosted rooms this morning.
I tried everything to get something other than NAT3 connection for about 1.5 weeks when I first got my connection. Eventually found someone mentioning IP Passthru so I tried that, got NAT1 and haven't had a problem since. The funny thing is though I can't seem to get back into the config screen for it at the moment. No matter wasn't going to change anything anyway.
In the forum I found this in it wasn't available to the person asking for help even though my router is the same.
In web browser use router address with /ipp_config.cgi
I have 2 connections to my router, my pc 10.0.0.1 and my ps3 10.0.0.3
chose the ps3 address, tried the temporary setting it worked then I set it to permanent.

I'm having issues too randomly! Issue 282 coming. Also just got 'connection to server could not be established (ID=2:2147459071)

???????

Cache is a problem, make sure you clear it in options.
Your NAT may be an issue, try to get it to at least two.
Also, if you're running wireless, GT will struggle compared to a wired connection, that's mainly where my problems stem.

I'm suffering big time with this with the "Time out" etc message when joining on line rooms. What is the DMZ thing as I'm not that computer savvy
