Is the red recommended gear number thing a distraction for you?

Where did I say I was? I said racing drivers find their own braking points and so do I.

Real drivers have a multitude of advantages, like peripheral vision, depth perception, g-force. We have a flat t.v. and a vibrating wheel.

What is your point? Again I wasn't claiming to be a racing driver or that playing a game was like real racing, simply that I find my own braking points on the course without a driving line or flashing indicator, as do racing drivers.

Going back to the original question, I completely ignore it. In fact I'd say that I'm not even conscious of it 90% of the time, so no, it's not a distraction at all to me.

Go on wich yo bad self den! They also ignore distractions. BTW just playing bro, it should be an option, like alot of stuff.

Forza does better in terms of driving lines. GT seems to be static while Forza's seems to read your driving, and changes depending on your speed. GT seems to be simply stamped on the road.

GT driving line is not static.

approach a corner at a slower speed than you normally take and you will notice that the red braking line is shorter or if you are going really slow will stay blue.

Yes the flashing gear light and racing line do not agree with each other.

Both visual aids are useful for learning tracks.

Once learned I do not notice the flashing .

Definetly need the driving line for the Special tour event at night.

Most corners (especially dirt/snow tracks) can be taken at 1 gear higher than it says. Its just really hard not to use the gear it says :indiff:

I noticed this too. If you watch examples of gold medal license tests the driver is usually a gear higher than the suggested gear. I guess its like the racing line, only a basic indicator of what you should do, not an ideal

ya just playing it safe

You are a real racing driver? I doubt it. If one doesn't have every blind corner memorized, it can be a good 2nd line of defense.

Really doesn't take long to memorise every corner on a track (even the ring). Until you do you're never going to be close to your best lap.

It was a mistake to add it in GT3, but the bigger mistake was forcing you to have it on. Some people are used to it, so keep it. But I want to be able to forget that it was ever introduced.

I used to put a piece of tape on my TV to block me from looking at it haha. Now I just sort of ignore it.

It's useless, much like the driving line (which I don't use.) It frequently recommends the wrong gear, and is really inconsistent as a blinking "you need to brake" indicator.

It was, until I turned the HUD off. Much better without the HUD on, your driving will improve and it's way more immersive!

^^^AGREES^^^

All that crap going on is a distraction. Only downside is the gas meter is gone from bumper cam.

I use the hood view so i have the bar type tacho/ flashing rev light because I use manual, never really look at the numbers or rely on them as brake markers. On a tv bigger than 32" you need to kind of look down slightly to see the numbers but i can see the flashing light from the corner of my eye.

I think rather than a distraction, I suspect I use it occasionally and subconsciously when I drive, so I guess I am glad it's there really.

As a noob, I definitely used it. Its my savior.
But, true, as time go by, I wish I can turn it off (without turning off all HUD). Because its very hard not to look at it.
I realize during close and intense online battle, I didn't look at it. Maybe my sub-concious mind was taking over :)

Hmmm... I will try to put a tape to cover that small rectangle in the middle.

I use it as braking marker. I don't brake when it starts flashing but know that I should a few seconds later. I cant say I'd miss it if it was gone. I know the tracks now all very well and know that the red marker is mostly wrong about when to brake and what gear to pick.

I hate the recommended gear number, I wish we could turn that off and leave the rest of the HUD on. I find myself using it for my braking points rather than using track details.

There's a great feature that has been missed from the game (or any other, I believe)... How about taking your BEST lap, and using THAT to generate driving line and gear indicators? The telemetry is all there.

👍 This is a great idea. I wish you worked for PD
