British firm Javan Sports Cars has created a new sports car called the R1 — capable of hitting 62 mph in 3.6 seconds, and 100 in 9.8. Weighing just 1,430 pounds, the car is powered by a 2.0-litre 4 cylinder i-VTEC DOHC engine developing 220bhp at 8600 rpm. A six speed gearbox provides a wide selection of gear choices all the way up to the top speed of 155 mph. The standing quarter mile takes just 12.2 seconds, Javan says. The total "on the road" price will be £30,139 in the U.K. A left-hand-drive version for the United States is also planned. A U.S. importer has already been appointed, and more details will follow in the near future.

Now THATS a car! I love it allready and I haven't even seen it in person! It looks like they crossed a Honda-powered Elise with a Tuscan, and my God did it turn out good. I could care less if they sold it here in the US with right or left hand drive, I just want to drive one now!
 
That looks a lot like the Yes Roadster, but with different headlights, which tbh more closer resemble a T350C than a Tuscan, they just don't have a cover over them on this.

Nice car as well.

Exactly what I was thinking! :lol: But I'm also seeing a hint of TT and Boxster. Hopefully those plans for U.S. exports won't be thwarted by all the bureaucratic flaming hoops they'll have to jump through. :crossses fingers:
 
This car is way too expensive. When I read the details I was expecting a retail of about 15-20k, but certainly not 30.
 
Doesn't that place it right next to the Lotus in price?
 
It put's it equal to the Exige, and under the Exige S, in respect that this is cheaer than the Exige S and offers suppsosedly offers more so as an Exige competitor it's priced competetively. The Elise 111R is a couple of grand cheaper.
 
£30,139 = $57,363.57 USD

That's assuming it will even BE that price when it gets here. I can imagine some stupid emissions and safety BS that the US Goverment will do to it before it's all said and done...which might raise the price. All that having been said, what a FANTASTIC car. I want one...in yellow or Subaru's WR Blue Mica please.
 
Given the use of the Honda engine and the otherwise spartan nature of the car, I'd be willing to bet they can sell it here as a kit-car alike the Noble M400... I think it uses the same K-series four-banger from the Acura RSX Type-S, so getting it past emissions regs shouldn't be too hard. The only thing they would have to worry about is crash tests, hence the reason why I'd try to run it as a kit-car.

Yeah, wasn't the YES roadster a fast, cheap alternative to the Elise? I don't know if it ever sold in the US (or anywhere), but the Javan is very much like a better-developed, and still faster YES. The price doesn't seem to match the car. New supercar manufacturers can pretty much charge what they want (step forward, Koenigsegg), but new mid-level sports car manufacturers are in a whole different segment. They actually have to compete on price to gain notice.
 
I don't think the YES was ever intened to be sold in the US, but wasn't the final product far different than it's origional concept? I seem to recall a prototype without doors and a few other things (obviously to save weight) powered by a VW 1.8T...
 
Yeah the road version of the Yes had doors, the concept didn't.
