Joe SatrianiMusic

Anyone else in here a fan? If you've never heard of him, you might wanna check out these albums: Surfing with the Alien and Strange Beautiful music. Those are my personal favorites but you might like something else.

Sach is a god on guitar. Have you got his DVD yet featuring Crystal Planet? Stu is also on bass so you really can't go wrong with that show, it's awesome!

joe satriani is cool. I dont like that kind of music (guitar masturbation, as its known XD) THAT much, but i am not saying that I dont like it. but the best stuff with satriani is when you see him live. seeing him play the guitar like he does is just INCREDIBLE. its amazing the stuff he can do with a guitar, and impressive how easily he does it. yet its EXTREMELY complex. Also, his depurated technique and lightning fast hands are amazing to look at. he is one helluva guitar player, one of the best in earth, and he commands respect, wether you like his music or not.

Only musicians like "noodling" music like Malmsteen, and Steve Vai. I admit that I have Far beyond the Sun and Black Star from Yngwie on my media player, but its only because I played when I was 17 and could appreciate the effort.;) Check out the tab for those songs to see what I mean about appreciating. Vivian Campbell sorta goes in this list, although he's gone back to his roots in folk. Keith Richards is still the best. Sloppy and beautiful(music that is):D

I love Joe Satriani, but his last cd, Strange Beautiful Music, really sucked. It is by far his worst work yet.

If you want a great Joe Satriani cd, pick up Flying In A Blue Dream, Surfing With The Alien and Crystal Planet. They are his best work, and they're just amazing. Not Of This Earth is very good too. If you don't have many of Joe's cd's, pick up Time Machine, it's a double cd set with one "Studio" cd and one "Live" cd. It's kind of his "Best OF" cd for his earlier work.

I hear he is taking over for Neil Schon in the "Planet Us" project wich reunites Sammy Hagar and Michale Anthony. I can't wait to hear him in that type of band again.

Joe influenced me to play the guitar the way I do, along with Eddie Van Halen. My playing style is a blend of these artists with just the right amount of bluesy slop added for sweetness.

As someone who plays "noodling" type of music, I can honestly say Malmsteen is just horrible. There isn't any songs in his music. Just boring scale runs, wich start from nowhere, and lead to nowhere. It's a lot like ordinary opera music. The guy just dosen't have a soul. I have two of Vai's cd's, Flexable and Passion and Warfare, but I haven't heard anything else from him in a long while. Does anybody have a great Vai cd suggestion?

The one thing that I have to say for Joe in his "noodling" type of music, is that he can still step back and hold one note and feel it. He isn't compelled to play every 32nd note there is every beat. The dude tares it up, but has enough blues in him "to slop it up" as you noted in your playing Solid Lifters. I wonder how many guitarist were inspired to play guitar because of Joe? Perhaps a pole is in order? :)

As far as Vai goes, I've only heard "Passion and Warfare", good stuff...I would also like to hear more from him.
