Kamikaze (brake) drifting in GT4?

Sorry, this question has probably already been asked a thousand times, but my little girl was born 9 days ago and I dont have alot of time to play, much less search for questions, so if some1 could be nice enough to answer this question for me.

I have my drift setup all done, and I love the way the car drifts..... once its sideways!

My drift technique was always Kamikaze drifts for four wheel balance, so I used the brakes as well as the side to side shake to get (and keep) my car sideways, but no matter how I configure my brakes in GT4, the car straightens when I apply brakes....

Is there any way to make it like GT4 where the ass end brakes loose the more I apply the brakes? Cuz its really annoying. I know its not a real life physics thing cuz my real AE86 broke lose when I touched the brakes during a drift.

Anyone?

I know the issue your talking about.. its happened to me before.
And i fixed it with N2's when i was previously using sport tyres.
But i also adjusted my technique when i applied the N2's.
 
I have the same problem with every car, stock or not, and N1's or 2's..

It seems to me that when you apply any amount of braking with, more or less, 1/3 or maybe even 1/4 of a turn dialled in, she wants to just go straight.. :confused:

I've been having to rely on the feint technique alot too, which I don't think I should have to.. :nervous:

I've noticed that brakes and steering input really hate working together, in this game.. but it may just be me.. need to log more hours! :dopey:

So I figured, your front wheels (not car) should be as straight as possible before appling any brakes... the amount of steering is the issue, for me anyways.. (DS2)



Me thinks: should read the "GT4 and Brakes" thread.
If only time wasn't an issue.. for it's extremely informative.. but so damn long! :ouch:

Me thinks: must have the will to move the analog stick with micrometric accuracy! :banghead:
 
i dont have a bbc on my nismo r32 and when i tap the brakes it gives me a lil more angle. guess it just may be the settings ur using.
 
Simple solution... Lower your LSD decel (between 10 and 20) I usually have mine set to around 15... Then set the brake balance to a rear bias (I usually use 3-15 to 5-20, or 3-18, you get the picture)... This should solve the problem... You can also raise the rear stabilizer, and/or raise the rear spring rates (and/or dampers)... Or you could lower the front spring rates (and/or dampers)...

congrats on the kid man, but I have no help since I only drift stock cars but rarely use custom cars . Anyways just PM us when you get the chance thats if you need help
 
well I just hvae a 1.5way LSD installed, maybe thats my problem in the first place, lol ^^; thats what I used IRL, so I guess I just put too much faith in the game :) guess its time to go back to making my own LSD settings ;)

When I get a little more money saved up and after I buy my 300ZX I'm going to build another system, with a good capture card, so maybe when I get some spare time I'll make you guys more vids when I have the time :)

PS. it does it even if I set the brakes to 1/23 lol, which is beyond stupid.

It's all about the LSD decel... Lower it, and you will see what I mean...

kick ass folks, thanks a ton, that was really chapping my ass, cuz I know I can drift, lol. Always could rely on you guys :) Gonna see if I cant hook my wheel up tonight. Got a PC system I am gonna build here in about 2 weeks that has a nice capture card in it (Full NTSC standard capture), I'll see if I cant work in some drifting then. I do love my 300ZX for drifting ^_^ mmmm, pearl whiteness :)

anywho.... no internet PS2 for me :) us poor people dont get such things, lol. Maybe in a few months when I get some $$$, I need a new PS2 anyways, I've had this one since a month after PS2 came out in the US, lol.

sure be happy to come drift with you guys then :)
