Hi all, My Laptop has a problem with the built-in wireless. Basically, what happens is that it will cut-out intermittently and will not give me an option to reselect the network that I am on, the only way I have found to resolve this is by restarting the Laptop, as you can imagine this gets very tedious. I am aware that is not a problem with the network as there are 3 other Laptops in the house that run just fine. I have a HP G56 Notebook in case you're wondering. My question is though, how can I resolve this?

Thanks,

Tom

it might be something to do with the router not allocating the laptop a long term IP address that is leased to it.

If you have set the router to only limit access to any three devices at any one time (through allocation of IP addresses) then when a fourth device that is switched on, that can kick your laptop out of the network if the router is configured to auto-accept the fourth laptop and not yours.

perhaps a faulty wifi chip.

It could be a million different problems, its really hard to say without having the laptop in front of me. If you can't resolve it may be worth a windows reinstall and and if you still have the same problem then it will definitely be the chip. (Though that should be the last resort)

Well I've got insurance on it, so if the problem persists then I can always take it back.
