LCD screens

1 part methylated spirits (I think you people call it rubbing alcohol or something) and 1 part water.

And the softest cloth you can find.

isopropyl alcohol
1 part water to 1 part alcohol, dont use more than a 50/50 mix (dont just slab on 90% isopropyl)

and wipe with a very soft cloth, microfiber is recommended.

ftw.

well, when i clean mine, i don't use no alcohol. i just turn off the screen and all i use is about 2 drops of water, and a cloth. it works good and doesn't do anything bad to the screen

(the cloth shouldn't really be wet, it should just be enough to wipe on, see a little wet streak, then disappear almost right away)

Cool i was thinking if microfiber is ok, i thought you had to use those clothes that come in cleaners for glasses.

Nail polish remover is a fool's choice right? with a mix of water.

3M makes idiot-wipes for people that can't mix the water and alcohol.

...I have a huge pack, actually.

Nail polish remover is acetone and would likely permanently haze the viewing surface of the monitor. It's very hard on most plastics.

I always use a damp cloth, although I don't really own an LCD monitor yet. Acetone may be alright for CRT monitors but definitely not LCD ones. Unless you dilute it enough, it would probably make the screen go white and hazy, definitely not what you would want.
