Le Mans is under way

Last time I checked the race the Bentley's were doing outstanding.  Go Bentley!  

 

[Phil]

I was suprised by the number 7 Bentley but Martin Brundle is probably the best sportscar driver at the moment appart from Bernd Schneider. Pity that it has now retired but the other Bentley is doing well.

 

[Jordan]

I see the remaining Bentley has finished 3rd behind the Audi's!  

Once they develop their own engine for next year I think they will be a serious challenge!

 

[Phil]

I don't think they will develop their own engine because Audi and Bentley are both owned by VAG. I think they will continue to either share, or both develop one together. Audi may not go back to Le Mans though - VAG may pull Audi out so Bentley could win next year as thay will generate more publicity. The Veyron should be ready to race a year later and they may overlap that programme with the Bentley one.

:shocked:  No way, they wouldn't pull Audi!  They're doing so well!

I thought I heard Bentley's CEO (or whatever he is) mention that they'll do better next year once they get their own engine developed.

I think you may be right because I know they had a lot of trouble adapting Audis V8 to fit the Bentley.
