My car will not have 2 pedals, end of story.

I hate automatics and everything about them. To me they say "laziness" and nothing more. I can shift on my own, and I'm better at it than an automatic too.

I also know when to shift better, and I have better response when I'm going to shift.

You sir are brilliant. I wish everyone tought like you. I currently drive a slushbox but not out of choice; the car was a gift. My car frustrates me so much! Heck, I pretend I'm driving stick by lifting off the accelerator!

I've only driven stick once but I know it's allure well. I actaully learned at a driving school using a previous gen. Nissan Frontier. The lack of a tachometer was ackward, but I got the hang of it.

I'd rather lose a leg than willingly ever buy an automatic with my own money.

consider yourselves lucky you were allowed anywhere NEAR a stick. when I learned to drive, Auto's had been set in concrete for a decade. dad tried to teach me a little in the Rabbit, but when your 5 or 6 years old, and have to use a stepladder to get on the seat... (i'm tiny...at 5'8"!)

no-one is willing to risk their tranny with a no0b stick driver, and only big rigs are maual, now (even the super duty pickups are all slushies!). as a matter of fact, a freind of mine who drives a rig for a living can't shift a conventional manual! the only manual on this place is a burned out 88 Topaz 3Door with a blown engine :P

unless, and untill, someone around here is willing to take a chance, I'll never end up in a stick. and I'd rather learn on a "long shaft" shifter first, before a 2 inch car stick.

that's a hint people.

Well Dodge and Ford still offer sticks in their Super Duties (and in the 1/2 ton Dodges), but of course Ford will stop with the sticks soon leaving Dodge as the stick champions! :p

ANYWHO, most of the time I would rather drive a stick because it's fun to be able to row through the gears and to be able to downshift on your own to pass the newest member of the 45 MPH Club. The only times I've ever wished I had an auto is when there is construction/rush hour, and when my engine wants to keep stalling while pulling up to a stoplight/sign in the winter time.
