My old Sansa Fuze has died (After going thorugh about 3 of them). I'm looking for an 8 gig player with expandable memory for under $50. I don't care about it or what it looks like as long as it meets those requirements.

search function on CNET.com?
Prolly way more help quicker than us searching the internets for you....

Sansa Clip+. Hands down. Don't go for anytihng else.

I recommend this as well, any electronic device that can withstand a washing machine has to have something going for it(Stupid story, i just let it sit for a couple days and it worked fine, plus it smelled nice). The only negative part about it is that the expansion slot is in a bad spot and there is no cover for the slot. I had a microSD card in it and it fell out while I was riding my bike, it has never been found(by me at least).

However they have came out with a newer generation so things could be different.

Edit: Also, they are $56 for the new one on Amazon, it's worth the extra $6 in my opinion. $60 for the old one.

Hands down DA SONY WALKMAN from 1979 it can hold as much as you want anything from 1 albums to infinite. As long as you are willing to carry that much.
Seriously go to Amazon search some products but in my opinion go into to the second hand market and buy a old product from a few years ago.

If you really want my opinion raise your budget buy sony product they are reliable so you know it wont break if it does warranty or a psp it can be upgraded to high memory and you can play gt5

Sansa Clip+ with Rockbox. As I see it, this little piece of plastic is the last remnant of mp3 players. People (and the market) have turned to cheap youtube and inferior quality music streaming.

One of the best parts of the Clip+ is FLAC support, too!

None of your suggestions even comes close to what Slashfan is looking for. :odd:

Is physical size, a screen, manufacturer, etc. a consideration or simply capacity and price?

Simply his budget is to low if he went through 3 = $150 he could have got an iPod nano even thou it doesn't have memory you can add it is still nice. He could have $21 dollars left and buy sum m&m's.

At no point did he ever say WHY he's gone through 3 units. Sure, I'd assume that they became inoperable for one reason or another, but it's also possible they were simply lost or stolen, not necessarily not working.

So now he's supposed to go from a '79 Walkman (which doesn't play MP3's) to a PSP (which blows his budget by triple) to a Nano which, again, blows his budget and doesn't have expandable memory just because it's nice?

I think you're headed the wrong direction, mate.

Alright alright.

Definitely Clip+. It has a really nice DAC/amplifier section, probably the best sounding portable player, save for higher end products that cost upwards of $300.

I agree, voted many times as the best sounding MP3 player on the market. Plus if you have already been with Sansa its a no brainer! They now have the Sansa Clip Zip.

I have both and my PSP memory is full. Won't be upgrading that for a while and it's not loud enough. The problem with Sansa is that all 4 of my players (I have owned others before the Fuze) were good but they had all sorts of mechanical issues that forced me to send them back 3-4 times each. I was very unhappy about that. And I paid $60 for my Fuze when it was new, so I feel like the $4 less gets me WAY less than what I had. I mean that's not a problem I just don't want to pay that much for something I can get way more with for $4 more.

EDIT:

Just picked up a Clip + off my sister. It's a 2gb but with the 8GB card I'll have 10. Problem is I need at least 11 gb of space and the 8GB card is the highest I have.
