Welcome my new car reviews thread. This is my first one, so please don't complain, only constructive criticism please. I will rate all my cars out of 10 for both fun and track driving, and the an overall mark out of 20.
BMW M5
This, the most powerful BMW in the NCD, is a great looking car. Especially in the white I bought it in. I decided to take it for a spin at Laguna Seca, and first impressions were poor. It understeered into the corner, and then had massive oversteer on the exit. Good for guys who want to impress their friends, but rubbish for circuit driving.
I kept going, hoping to like the big beast, but I just found more hints to dislike. Braking was abismal, just goes straight on. The amount of times I entered the gravel at the corkscrew, having under steered through, was stunning. Then on the exit, the car saw an opportunity to let its tail go. I was about to quit, having had enough of the car, but then I had an epiphany.
I realised that I was driving it like a track car, when actually it isn't one. It's actually a big bundle of laughs. It want to enjoy itself, it doesn't take things seriously. I started drifting around, and actually it drifts beautifully, so easy to control on the limit. Though unfortunately you do usually end up in its natural habitat, the gravel trap.
To conclude then, the M5 is not the best track car stock, but I'm sure someone in the tuning forum can help with that. But if you want a laugh, then this is a great car for you.
Overall: 4/10 for track
8/10 for fun.
