McLaren has yet to launch the long-awaited three-seat Speedtail, yet it’s just been revealed that its MSO division is working on its next project that, according to reports, will be even more extreme and limited than the Speedtail.

A pair of prolific car collectors in the U.S., dan_am_i and x_marc_the_spot on Instagram, recently published images teasing the project. Dubbed BC-03, the car will allegedly be limited to just 5 units worldwide and will not be a three-seater like the Speedtail.

Understandably, the two future owners of the vehicle are remaining tight-lipped about it, but reports claim the BC-03 will be a production version of the Vision GT concept McLaren designed for Gran Turismo last year.

If true, this means the BC-03 will be a single seater focused on track performance. It could, therefore, make use of similar aerodynamic elements as the concept, including a towering rear wing, huge air intakes, and ultra-lightweight body panels. Think of it as the McLaren equivalent of the Lamborghini Veneno, albeit with much more performance and advanced technologies.

The Vision GT concept used McLaren’s 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 mated to a pair of electric motors driving the front wheels for a total of 1150 hp and 1275 Nm of torque. If these figures are replicated on the BC-03, it will be comfortably the fastest vehicle the British automaker has ever produced.

Buyers of the car have apparently been previewed the vehicle by way of a single 2D sketch. Right now, it remains unknown when McLaren will unveil the BC-03 hypercar.

I doubt a prone driving position would be considered legal even for solely track use
Can it work as a track car though? It's similar to a motorcycle and those TT sidecars, are a bit extreme with the way they hang out over them.

But you're not prone on a bike or TT sidecar. And in the case of TT side car it's far different from a dynamic point on how the rider does his job compared to a regular motorcycle rider.

McLaren committed to the nitty-gritty, creating a real-life version of a machine we first saw in the racing game Gran Turismo Sport. This is the McLaren Solus GT, a track-only machine with a fighter-jet cockpit and a naturally aspirated V10 engine that will rev to 10,000 rpm.

Powering this beast is a 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 engine making 829 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque, connected to a 7-speed sequential transmission. McLaren says the Solus GT should do 0-60 in 2.5 seconds and reach a top speed beyond 200 mph.

But this is not simply an acceleration machine. The Solus GT, which McLaren says will weigh “less than 2,205 pounds,” will generate downforce in excess of 2,645 pounds. That means, at full speed, the Solus GT could drive upside-down on the ceiling of a tunnel.

Each car will include a driver’s seat molded to the owner’s body (the same way that Formula 1 teams make a custom-molded seat for each of their drivers), an FIA-certified racing suit, a custom helmet and HANS device, and McLaren driver coaching and instruction.

McLaren has committed to build a mere 25 examples, all of which were sold long before the car made its debut today at Monterey Car Week. Deliveries will begin in 2023.
