W123 is the internal chassis-designation Mercedes-Benz used for their executive line of cars, manufactured between 1976 and 1985.
The W123 models surpassed their predecessor, the W114 and W115 models, as the most successful Mercedes, selling 2.7 million cars before replacement by the W124 after 1985. The additional range of smaller Mercedes-Benz W201 models were introduced in 1982.

Absolutely.
Wonder why there is so few diesels anyway
Indeed. The only Diesels in GT that I can think of are the 120d and the Audi and Pug LMP1s. And it's not like there weren't any cool diesel engined cars to choose from: The Audi R8 V12 TDI concept from 2008 for instance. Or the incredible BMW M550d xDrive, preferably as a Touring. Then we have the VW Phaeton V10 TDI, the Peugeot 908RC,
dem american Diesel Trucks, the Alpina D3 Biturbo F30, and these two:

I always loved that car, too bad she treated it like crap.
