Mid-Field Raceway Lap Times For 716 Cars!

M3 GTR is a limited edition car to homologate BMW's entrance into GT2 class of the FIA-GT championship and it has M5's V8 on it. A truly great car but toooooooo expensive even for a great M3 and produced in very low quantities.

Just saw the LFA's NP '12 lap and it was very good.

I was unhappy with the LFA NP lap. It's one of the worst I've recorded so far. Unfortunately that car is just plain hard to control. I'd say the F40 handles better.

Strange thing this. I need to try both LFAs in Midfield using wheel in order to see if same happens then. Maybe over the limit is more sudden and unpredictable due to harder suspension.

They only produced three M3GTR... Oh one more thing... I think I might start testing at deep forest... It will start to get almost impossible to drive anything faster than a rally car on them without smashing it...do NOT want to try something like a Veyron or RedBull car... are there any other good options that you can think of that you HAVEN'T done ten million times on yet?

It took me 20-30 minutes to finally get a 1:27 in the Toyota Supra 3.0GT Turbo A '88

It's half a second slower than the 2.5GT.

1:29.7 in the Nissan Skyline HT 2000 RS-X Turbo C (R30) '84. Boy that is a mouthful
1:29.8 in the Nissan Skyline GTS-R (R31) '87.
1:30.4 in the Nissan Skyline HT 2000 Turbo RS (R30) '83.

^ You'd think there would be more than a 7 tenths of a second spread between the fastest and slowest.

Also tested Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 '11 and Murcielago SV '09.

This is the second test where the Murcielago SV beats the Aventador. Suzuka has been the only exception and I wonder if it has anything to do with SH tires being used at Suzuka. What are your thoughts on the two Lamborghinis? Do you find one easier to drive versus the other? Do you notice any particular quirks about one car versus the other?

I personally find the LP670 easier to drive, it feels more like a race car than the Aventador. Note: The actual car weighs a LOT more than the game says it does.

The Murcielago SV feels like it weighs at least 100 kg less than the Aventador, rather than the actual 10 kg specified in the game. They're both very tricky at the limit, though, with quite a bit of oversteer. I'd prefer a more neutral 4WD setup, like the GT-R Nismo.

With the best driver in the world, it's anyone's guess which one would be faster. I'd say the Murcielago SV because it's actually set up for the track, while the Aventador is a street car, first and foremost.

Yeah GT really screwed up a lot of the weights in this game. There's no consistency. Some are curb weight, some are dry weight, some are weights from the wrong side of the globe...

Tested:

Mercedes-Benz SLK 230 Kompressor '98
Mini Cooper 1.3i '98
Chrysler PT Cruiser '00

That PT Cruiser left a bad taste in my mouth. The next car I test has to be a good one.

Last two for today:

Mazda Axela 23S '03
Opel Speedster Turbo '00

The Mazda handles better than most front-drive cars besides some of the Hondas.

Speedster Turbo is 2 whole seconds faster than the non-turbo version.

Tested:

Pagani Zonda C12 '00
Opel Speedster '00

The base Zonda is about as quick as the V10 Audi R8, and the Speedster is equal to the Lotus Elise '96.
That's a bit surprising coming from the Zonda, but the speedster and Elise are equal cuz they are basically the same car underneath.

Zonda C12
6.0L
387 hp / 5,000 rpm
420 ft-lb / 4,000 rpm
1,250 kg / 519 pp

R8 V10
5.2L
518 hp / 8,000 rpm
391 ft-lb / 6,500 rpm
1,620 kg / 540 pp

The Zonda weighs over 800 lbs less than the R8, and has more torque.

Tested:

Mini Marcos GT '70
Autobianchi A112 Abarth '79
Honda S800 '66
Nissan Silvia (CSP311) '65
Volkswagen Scirocco R '10
Ferrari 365 GTB4 '71
Alfa Romeo 147 GTA '02

The Scirocco is half a second behind the Ford Focus RS '02 making it the 2nd fastest FF in game so far.

About 12 minutes and 6 consecutive laps. That's how long it took me to get a 1:52 with the Honda S500 '63.

What a fantastic car. The first Honda with four wheels. It was very slow for the time, but three years later the S800 fixed that problem. Here at Mid-Field, the S800 was over 8 seconds faster.

1:52.913 - 274 - Honda S500 '63
43 hp / 8,000 rpm
33 ft-lb / 4,500 rpm
675 kg (1,488 lbs)
274 pp

1:44.612 - 318 - Honda S800 '66
68 hp / 8,000 rpm
48 ft-lb / 6,000 rpm
720 kg (1,587 lbs)
318 pp

Also tested:

Honda Civic 1500 3door 25i '83
Chevrolet Corvette Convertible (C1) '54

Funny thing is the Civic and Corvette are only 3 tenths of a second apart.

Tested:

Mazda Demio GL-X '99
Mazda Demio Sport '10

I forgot the newer Demio had a CVT. I hate that transmission. Sure it takes advantage of the power, but it's not fun and sounds terrible.

Anyway, the Demio '10 is half a second quicker than the Honda Fit '10 and 4 seconds quicker than the old Demio.
