Hey guys a bit of advice if you could.

As I don't play games on my pc I don't have a graphics card. Anyway a friend gave me a gigabyte 6770 for virtually nothing and I thought I may as well put it in so my son can play some games.

My mb is suitable for it and the cpu is an I3 of some variety. Win 7 64 bit.

Putting it in won't be an issue.
Questions.

Do I have to uninstall anything currently on the pc?
What changes in bios if any are needed?

A small run down would be of great help. Thanks.

Cheers Shaun.

You dont have to uninstall anything. Maybe the drivers for your graphic card if there's any obvious one.
You have a graphic card btw on your computer, maybe not a decent one but still, you should have one (it's where the monitor is connected). Nothing to do in bios either, just replace your older GC with the new one, start your computer and it should do the tricks. Then once you're in windows you might have some screen resolution problem (will probably run in 640x480) so you adjust that, then install the drivers or just install the drivers (it's just easier with a proper resolution). If your friends didnt give you the CD you can download the drivers here. Then it should work perfectly.

I'll check when i get home from work but I was under the impression it was only on board graphics. It's a gigabyte h61-something. As you can probably tell my pc knowledge is limited.
Thanks for the advice 👍

Oh it might be, I actually never saw a computer like that but I know it exist, if you dont have a GC, just put it in a free slot, put your monitor cable in the back of the GC and your computer should recognize it automaticaly. You might have a problem wiht your alimentation tho if it's not big enough to power your 6770.

You may wish to look into how much power the video card draws, and how much power your power supply can deliver.

I'll double check that but a quick google this afternoon and it looked ok. 👍

Edit: Installed and working well, thanks for the advice.
