After doing some thinking as to what to do next, I decided to go with a truck.

Not that I'm tired of sports cars, I just wanted to do something different.

So, for $1500, I picked this up back in September.

1982 Chevy 2WD.

-350ci small block (only about 6000 miles on it)

-High rise intake manifold

-Holly 600CFM Double Pumper 4brl

-Edelbrock Cam.

-Rebuilt Turbo 350 Automatic Transmission.

The guy I bought it from says it he pulled a mid 13 with it. I have no idea if it's true. I really don't care. He's selling it for his son who has gone into the Marines. The truck is VERY strong and really sound mechanically. I barely tap the ignition and it fires right up. It also sounds great.

Obviously, the truck needs a paint job and the interior is.. well, it's an 82. Need I say more?

-The plan.

I don't want to do anything too crazy to it, just make it nice. I think it's pretty well perfect as far as engine performance goes. I don't plan on racing it or crazy off roading.

-Body

Surprisingly, it doesn't have too much of the "Chevy Cancer" body rot. A frew rust spots here and there, get some dent's fixed and a nice paint job. The color will either be a Black cherry metallic color or silver.

-Wheels and tires

I like what wheels it has now. I will get those refinished. Maybe a powder coat? I'm also going to stick with the Street/off road dueler type of tire. Staying with the bigger tires because, to me, it's a truck. Huge wheels with rubber band thin tires has never looked right to me.

-Suspension.

Not sure yet. :)

-Interior

It's all getting ripped out. All that **** carpet and nasty bench seat MUST go. I hate it. Full gauge cluster as well.

-Accessories

Probably going to go for a nice brush guard for the front and some lighting.

This will take a bit of time. But, it's just something fun to do. I will try and do one major thing a month on it. I will keep you all updated and I'm more than willing to listen to suggestions.

doesn't look like it needs anything major, even on the body (now THAT'S a miracle). up here, the bed and cab corners disintegrate.

try setting it up for a two-tone, if you can afford it, but it'll look sweet with Black Cherry doo

go for a couple buckets.

only replace bits of the suspension that need it. i'd rather not see yet another Jacked to the ceiling pickup

check out LMCTruck.com for a couple ideas.

It's a 2X4, I don't think it'll be getting Deuce axles any time soon. ;)

I'm not too huge on this era of Chevy, but I think it'll make a nice street truck. If I may make a suggestion, though - don't go all too noisy on the pipes unless you've really built the motor. I'm tired of hearing uncorked, but otherwise stock, small-block Chevies in pickups.

It's a 2WD, drop it. C-10's look awesome with a mild drop on them.

Yeah, I thought about it, but, I also thought about the crap winters here in Mo.... Just going to get a nice set of on/off road tires. I like the beefier look.

I notice someone's allready got a square tube grill in it. I'd leave that, and mabey slap a bowtie on it. see if you can get the Euro-clear headlights in there (or you'll be paying extra for those hard to find custom sized sealed beams that GM uses). oh, get some bright bulbs if you keep the stock tails. "gmt-300" 's (as i call them) have some of the dimmest rear lights I've ever seen.

sorry for the rant pile, but I'd rather see one of these that's more visible night and day. it's like GM screwed up the design to begin with :P

GM screw something up? Say it ain't so! :) Actually, the guy I bought it from put in LED bulbs in the back and front signals. And you and I are on the same page with the grill. That stays.

good lord...60 bucks worth of LED bulbs. i oughta patent my idea for older vehicles, so you don't have to fork out a fortune for those bleedin things...

if your gonna keep the markers, grab a new pair. at that age, they're bleached and probably dirty inside.

I've noticed at a place like LMC that the only non-contemporary look they have for redoing the lights is the taillights.
