I'm furious with B-Spec mode.... wonderful idea, just DOES NOT WORK the way it's supposed too 90 percent of the time... ok here's the details, I'm in the Proffesional Hall competing in the final championship, the Gran Turismo world championship... and since I cant do all this driving in one sitting (my hands get numb from the strong force feedback of my DFP) I opt for B-Spec mode for a few of my races.... anyway short story even shorter, the AI codriver of mine is about 10 seconds behind my laptime pretty much everytime, HE"S SOOOOOOOOO DAMN SLOWWWWW>>>>>>>>>>
would have been good if the comp took some notes and copied me whippin around the track.... right now I'm using a Minolta '89 race car with stage 4 turbo just over 1100hp... I have an advantage of at least 250-300 hp over any car on the track, currently my only competitors are the Audi race car, and the Toyota GT-one race car...
beginning of the race it even says the race is worth 1 point... so since the number is so low meaning apparently I have a huggggge advantage over my competitors why cant my AI codriver get a better laptime that the Toyota or the Audi.........
this is fudgin retarded.........
I dont know what else to say, I'm sittin here with steam comin out my ears right now.. this must be sum kinda joke or a glitch or something....
Gran Turismo 4 has been delayed SOOOOO many times supposedly to fix bugs and whatnot... I cudda lived thru another few delays if they only got things like this working properly.....

has anybody seen anger manegment it is sucha funn movie if oyu havent seen it you should but anyhow it is a shame your b-spec guy is bad but arent they meant to improve with experience

more bspec points = more bspec driver skill

My driver has 7,500ish points, he doesn't usually spin out or mess up unless I give him a ****ty tuned car.

I feel your pain... I'm trying to figure out how to make him better, hopefully quickly.

He has won a few races for me (reruns), but not by the margin I do. For example, the German Touring Car Championship (ye olde big money race). There's a race there at High Speed Ring. If I'm driving (Audi TT Touring Car, stock), I can leave my opponents a quarter lap down by the end of the race. If I let "Dammit" drive (my B-Spec Driver... "Go faster, Dammit!!"), he'll win the race, but only by about one or two seconds. Which is good enough for that track, but he simply can't win any of the other races in that series.

I know the best way to beef him up is to let him drive... I just don't like to. I mean, he's not good enough to bother racing him for money. And I'd rather not send him back to Sunday-Cup land over and over again. Speaking of which, does he get "upgraded" for racing the same races over and over again? Or does it have to be different series?

In my experience, I had him driving just my F1 GT car for a while and he didn't seem to gain any skill, he was around 6300. When I started giving him older cars and variety he got better, I have him in a C3 Corvette Stingray and he is improving by good margins.

I have about 2000 B-Spec points and he can't really overtake somebody on 5. I used to be able to do it with enemy cars that were slower, but now he wusses out and brakes before even getting close. I hate it.

Mine does exactly the same thing. I'll be yelling "pass!" and he slams on the brakes. 🤬

So I put on practice at the 'ring in my Merc 190E 2.5-16, 3x speed and let him go. 👍

It all depends on the car and the settings your put on it (tires, etc.) If you cant do it in last place of the grid start, practice and qualify so you can move up 2-4 slots on grid. Just completed mine last night. I went B Spec then pitted so I can take over the rest of the laps.

Just keep using your co-driver, practice makes perfect, and your driver will get better. 👍
Yep.

For your info, I have the Toyota 88C-V with 1220 HP and a B-Spec driver with 6500 points (82;65;62) and he can't beat the 920HP version of its self at that race.

You're just gonna have to do it yourself with the 88C-V. It's not that hard to win. Just put R1 tires in back and R3 in front.

if you're on the nurb and have THAT big of an advantage, you dont need to push any more than 3. your guy is probably crashing everywhere because the car is WAY too fast for the track.

keep it steady, and dont forget to turn on overtake when you get behind someone.

keep it steady, and dont forget to turn on overtake when you get behind someone.

And ONLY if you get behind someone. I noticed that when Overtake is turned on, even if there are no other cars around, your driver will weave in and out of the racing line, which only serves to slow him down. Turning it off assures that he holds the proper line. Just keep an eye on it, and whenever he comes up behind someone (including lapped traffic), turn on Overtake until he gets by, then turn it off again.

Guess I better start letting the B-spec guy get some practice in. I had planned on a-specing everything except for 2 of the 24 enduros. But if I do that the driver will be a n00b.

My B-Speccer is 3 seconds off my CLK DTM time and less than a tenth of a second ahead of my SL65 time on the Ring. I'm still pissed about the SLK65... ;)

My CLK... 6:40
My SL65... 7:44.4 (I think)

Hmmm... my b-spec skill is only 881 right now and he pretty well can win any race in DTM by a good margin with my CLK, all I done to the car was put the stage4 turbo in. The first time I used him at the first race in paris he only got 3rd, was hungup fighting for fifth place for 3 laps didn't pass till I put him on Push then he finally slipped through. After that race he just kept winning by greater and greater margins. Now he can win by over a half a lap sometimes, I just start the race, set him to overtake and fast or push till he takes the lead then take off overtake and leave him on steady for a couple laps and push for the last couple just to see him push out a couple fast laps.

LOL enemy cars. Shoot them with your lazer.

Every once in a while, by guy takes it into the weeds, but that usually only happens when I push it too hard. I rarely use 5 for that reason, unless it's in my full-trick R32 with a Stage 5 HKS turbo and R2 tires, and even then only on the fully-enclosed city courses. OTOH, on 4 he'll win any of the Red Emblem races by at least 3/4 of a mile and still have green tires.

Wow, my B-spec driver has a brother with the same name! What a coincidence!!!

Yes, when I drive the DTM series race at High Speed Ring, I beat the 2nd place driver by 30 seconds with the CLK DTM. Later, I went back to see if my B-spec driver could beat them by the same margin, but he came in freakin 4th!!! I am gonna have to let him do some practice laps while I sleep or something, it's ridiculous how slow he is compared to me.

Hey how you liking that CLK-GTR? That thing is nuts! I used it in the Tuning Car series under Professional and I whipped everything. Can't wait to get ahold of the C9 and start replicating Nurburgring laps like that video that's passing around here.

jeah, me 2, i cant wait to get my hands on the c9

my bspec driver has almost 6k points, see i did all beginner and professional races, and i accidently turned off my ps2 while it was autosaving 👎
so i started over, let my b-spec driver do most of the races i did before, and now he aint that bad. dont put him up against the same exact car or he will probbably lose :scared:

I'm going to hit to threads with one answer here:

Give the B-Spec driver time to learn in good prepared cars. I had to buy a brand new Audi R8 for the 24 hour races. Right now mine's got a 3+ lap lead at LeMans with 10 hours left in the race. The Sauber is in 2nd and the Toyota is 3rd. I did a couple of stints earlier and was faster than my driver by 5 seconds. After I turned the car back over to my driver, his lap times were only a second off of mine.

Wear and Tear on the R8

I had already put one entire series and one endurance race on my R8. I went to bed lastnight and left my driver running the Fuji 1000 in and a R8. He was running against the Sauber and both Nissan's. He ran 4th and got slaughtered to say the least. So Yes the R8 does wear out quickly. Plan on buying a new one every 2-3 endurance races?

***Question***

Is there a way to make the data screen stay open instead of the broadcast screen during B-Spec? It's annoying to have to keep resetting the time every pit stop.

Yeah, so my B-spec driver has 4802 points... so I go out and buy the BWM V12 LMR Race car...

I just want to get to the extreme stuff, so I bought the V12 LMR to do the 'dirty' work on the Gran Turismo Championship. I watched the first lap or 2 until my Bspec freak got in the lead, then i put him at 4 and sat back for the win.

Well, lap 9/10 comes around, and he pits (without me telling him too). I get tires and i'm about 10-15 secs ahead of the GT-One that's in second.

Well, I switched back to real time so I could watch the 'fantastic' finish. Well, I started to notice that he wasn't driving like he was before the pit stop. He just kept putting the breaks on for no reason...

So about the third to last turn, the GT-One owns me and i watch my b-spec freak get out of the way. Then, he finally makes it to the straightaway (this is at Tokyo) and he starts BREAKING on the STRAIGHT! Needless to say he gets RAMMED by the third and fourth place cars, and I end up taking third! WHAT THE CRAP IS UP WITH THAT!?!?

Good one, Polyphony... 👎 👎 👎 👎 :ouch:
