Hi guys,
to cut my problem short, I got a HDD yesterday ( Maxtor 250GB, IDE) to use it solely as a backup thing ;-). My main HDD is a 500GB Samsung ( S-ATA) that has 2 partitions.
I connected the Maxtor, came up in BIOS, but no sign of it in Windows ( XP )......I thought you could format empty new drives under windows ?
Anyway.....that's my problem, it just doesn't turn up in my computer or device manager, but in BIOS it looks ok.......(it's a new unit).
You can run a IDE and a S-ATA at the same time, right ?

PS: Tried fiddling with the master/slave pins, but no result :-(
EDIT : It shows up in device manager now.........but not in my computer :-( How do I format it, do I need the windows CD ?
