New Toyota GR86 Coming to Gran Turismo Sport in 2021

Still has the same front as the Mk5... The fang in the "mouth" is the joke... Nevermind.
There isn't a Mk5, and I was talking about the change from Mk1 to Mk2...
To be fair, it's a different, far stiffer chassis, with a longer wheelbase and wider track, lower COG, less weight, and 30hp more (or 15hp more than the GRMN).

It's quite like Mk1 to Mk2 MX-5, only with the weight going down a bit as opposed to up.
I like what they did with performance but styling is just terrible, the first gen was a beauty.
Just like the MX-5s :D
The actual joke there being the change from popups to fixed headlights made it uglier.

It's not the Lamborghini or Porsches that were announced in the pre plague world but at this point I'm glad of anything being added to GTS!

Stop. Just stop. 'Coming to GT' is just clickbait. Although I suppose paid placement is the only type of content that actually might show up in game especially if it's mostly copy/paste. Write off the Lambo and Porsches. PD cant keep to thier own schedules. If they put all their energy into GT7 it might make it as a PS6 launch title

Another Toyota... Can we get some TVR love? RUF love? Plymouth love? Maybe just maybe some Lotus love?

Kind of tired of seeing all the cars added recently being Toyota. It gets stale.

Not trying to be a hater or negative but does anyone really think any car in GT Sport drives like a real one? I love my Gran Turismo but there would be a lot of dead people around the world if real cars drove and handled like the ones in the game. I'm hoping they add brakes in GT7.

Why don't people ask other brands, why their new production cars aren't in Gran Turismo Sport?

Noone saw this coming. Not one person saw this coming. Sure, we can speculate, guess, suggest, wish, but no one saw the GR Cup coming back in this fashion and with a new car. Even if there are players that hate Toyota with a passion, this shows PD haven't abandoned its fanbase/players.

This gives PS4 and PS5 users content to pass the time by.

Seeing as this comes directly from the official site, please explain to me how this is "Clickbait"

I think the point is, their is a lot of other Iconic Car Models that are not even represented in the game at all and it would be nice to have something different to drive. For me it would be the fast European Fords, but I would not see the need for ever Mark of the Escort for example to be in the game.

Sure, but that's not the option here. It's not "GR86 instead of something else", but "GR86 or not GR86".

We've also had no new cars since November, and prior to that (the GR Yaris) no new cars since May. It's pretty likely that this is only coming because Toyota and PD wanted it in the Toyota GR esports series, and any other new vehicles created in the last year are going into GT7.

The stock set up setting leave something to be desired and the constant swaying from left to right, Somebody did a comparison in Car Mag between teh New Supra in GTS and a real one, The overstated Body roll in GTS was the first thing he noticed along with less grip and brakes in GTS,

I think it's great that GTS gets a new car. But, very odd and not worth defending Toyota or PD on. There are FOUR versions. The GRMN included, which is the best and never used. Why no BRZ TS? Let's have all the favors darn it!

Toyota probably have it in within the partnership contract, but in general it is an issue with GT, multipul versions of the same car, Take the Fiat 500 the original one is Iconic, and I get the Abarth version but the 3rd one, which came in one of the last updates not really iconic, and considering the time and effort put into car modelling by PD you would think their are better choices.

I don’t get why people angry at PD for doing partnership with manufacturers. It good thing way strength up the relationships for both companies. We as consumer will get a lot cool stuff. PD had been doing this for awhile back in a day.

No anger here. Just puzzling that it's been a constant procession of their near identical cars in the game. More puzzling is that some get upset that everyone isn't raging with happiness over this one non-racecar. I'd enjoy many other cars over the GR86, but I'll take it.

I don’t expect much from the game update when the game in the last leg. But I learn one thing PD did this with Nissan too in the past . I still don’t get why people act so surprise about this when they been doing it for many years for adding duplicates car.

But the Levin and Sprinter are totally different cars!!

I see it as more fun. Did a Corolla race a while back. 10 with pop-up lights, 2 without. No difference in cars. Just looks more fun.

In the future there's probably going to be more exclusivity. ie limited models will probably be more limited. Anyone would be able to purchase a GT 86, but only X number special edition versions will be sold. We're lucky as we all get to try them.

It's more like GT86 versus BR-Z.
PD haven't updated the BR-Z to the same year as the GT Limited '13.
As for the new GR86, we might see the new BR-Z, but I think it'll be slightly softer tuned than the GR86, as per reports.

Put it this way, when we do get the GR86, it can enter the Boxer GT League event. It's a much quicker car than the Mk1. Should be interesting how it's performance compares to the older Imprezas and the 930 Turbo.

I kinda get the reaction with the previous 86s (Hell, I even mention in my review video how the "Facelift" GT86 literally doesn't feel notibly different from the standard 2015 version), but this is literally a far more different car so I have a hard time seeing how this as a "Dupe" when it's not remotely like the standard GT 86 or the Original Toyota twins (Corolla and Levin). Just seems people are unrealistically expecting things while ignoring that GT7 is a thing.

Have been playing GT5 again lately and the cars drive so much better. Not sure why it was worse in GT6 and even more in GT Sport. The GT Sport betas where so bad I was not going to buy the game but an update in the second beta fixed that some. Still bad.

Big deal.

Deep down I feel this. In the real world new 2.4 GT86 and in the game.

Obviously at this point only new Toyotas are coming in and really, PD is forced to do them.

I suspect this car will not reach N400 limiting its appeal to me.

In the real world I see this visuals of this car MUCH worse than the Gen 1 model.

Why does the rear end look like an old Honda Integra Si something? Front either is more generic. At least the old car actually looks pretty unique.

I'm not excited about a piddling 200c upg and meaningless pwr/tq increases. Further the interior looks like bandaids on a 2006 car.

I actually quite like the older 86 and really I feel like my only choice for a true sports car is one of the older ones but it needs some less flat four and more....

... of this? Amazing bark growl rumble you name it.

Pushrods. Its makes things happen. Quickly. OOGA BOOGA I'm a caveman at heart.

There's no probably about it, they do for that reason. And technically, this isn't a variation of the same car. It's a new generation of the car model.

I wouldn't sweat that choice too much since it's basically an updated model that they already made (like a lot of their DLC cars in GT Sport).
