It's reporting that a hybrid, 400-horsepower, 3.5-liter V6 powertrain is being tested for possible release in 2015. The new Supra would look a lot like the FT-HS concept that Toyota showed at the 2007 Detroit Auto Show,

Can I? Can I?...

I'd be surprised if it had less than 400bhp.

We know already that Toyota has plans to expand the hybrid tech further into the range, so maybe the next Supra would be an incredibly high-tech sports car, along the lines of the Nissan GT-R, but part-hybrid?

...told you so.

I know, I know, it's still speculation at this stage, but don't say I didn't call it.

I got sad when I saw Hybrid. I'm a great supporter of the hybrid technology, especially when it's used to boost a cars performance, but I don't really like it in this case.

It seems it'll jack the price up considerably, plus I liked the Supra as a petrol car. I like how they're trying to go green, and hybrid technology really is astounding when used right, but I don't think they should call it the Supra, unless it's a petrol car like the original. Maybe make two versions? Please?

This is dumb. Just make something between a Gen Coupe and a Mustang in size and make it turbo and really fast. Supra should be as fast as a GTR in a straight line but without the techno-wizardry.

This.

They always were rivals. The R35 is already a legend so, the Supra should be no less:drool:.

I agree with Schwartz, it look's alot like a concept of the GT-86. That car was made in 2007 though so I'm sure (hope) the final version will look a bit better. As it stand's though the current GT-86 look's more like a Supra than what we are being left to believe the new Supra will look like.

Hmm....anyone?

Why does everyone hate the LF-A? I think it's a beautiful design, just because every single piece of the body serves a purpose, and because it's probably one of the most well engineered supercars out there at the moment.

I think the image above looks like a horrible version of the LF-A.

Looks like a baby LF-A. If it does become a new Supra, then only a Turbo straight six will do. Though I have a feeling they'll stick in a V8.

I think the Inline-6 is on it's way out, sadly. Who all uses them anymore? BMW right now, but they're slowly switching to V6 engines...

Why does everyone hate the LF-A?

It's a divisive car. I'm not at all keen because there are far too many odd details scattered haphazardly about the car, and it's poorly proportioned - very slab-sided, the back end is like a bus and the glasshouse looks too small compared with the rest of the vehicle.

It's undoubtedly an impressively-engineered machine but visually it's one of the least resolved cars on the road.

That red Lexus/Toyota above looks like an LF-A stripped of all the ridiculous detailing and given more pleasing proportions.

The new Supra has to be turbo charged. Screw large V8s and what not, it has to be turbo charged. Or at least make two models, one turbo and one N/A.

Just like how Nissan stuck to the turbo route for the GT-R, Toyota should do the same.

Besides, aren't forced induced, small engines the current trend for car makers to lower the carbon emissions?

I think if they made a new supra its should like the old one. But with updated tech.
Look at this car porn...

Seriously if they did make something like this the world would go crazy. The same style just with updated styling. I also think they should make it super fast more like the GTR.

The model from the picture of the video looks to have too much of a sedan sortof thing going on, I'm not sure how to describe it. The roofline looks odd for a sports car as well.

Because that makes sense.

I would like it if they kept the original shell. That car was one of the most beautiful cars of it's time, still is. It doesn't look like a design made 16 years ago either, so it could work. Problem is, people may buy it, but Toyota won't make it. They're going to change the styling up completely. I hardly doubt they'll include any styling cues from the old one. Like the GTR kept the rocket booater taillights.

That concept is very nice looking. Hope it is the next Supra.

I struggle to think how anyone can say the LF-A has poor proportions?

That is the perfect FR shape.
