Tonight was a good race and everyone did fairly well. I know through out the whole race it was a great battle between me and @Rinsky as we had different pit strategies which we would pass each other when one of would pit. I would have to say the last 10mins of the race was intense as there was about 4-6sec gap between us but it would all come down to the last 5mins of the race to determine who would take 8th or 9th place at Willow Springs. Here is a video clip from my point of view of the last 5mins of the race. Hope you enjoy.

Clicked it right away until I heard the music ... still cannot understand why people keep on adding music behind such race clips ?? What is up with that logic ?

Makes me go back to the time where porn also had music in the background :)

Terrible.

Because it's entertainment value. Watching cars go around in silence with nothing but engine sounds can get boring after a short while.

Agreed. There was a tight group going back and forth for 4th-7th place depending on pit strategy and off-road activity. And that battle came down to the last laps too.
I think i nipped 4th by a meter over @Standard_FV ; and only because he went into fuel conserve mode the last lap; and @bloodyboyblue and @Hasse R took a side trip to the California desert looking for some peyote i think. I have rarely raced that close during an endurance race. Big Willow ended up being quite fun as it was easy to make a mistake and go off-roading in the desert (just watch @Hasse R @dirtendk’s livestream :cheers:) and everyone seemed to be on a different pit/tyre strategy, so you never quite knew where you were overall.
Quite intense from my point of view trying to get through 1.5 hrs. So much happening. Endurance racing at its best. (I did a 2 stopper on RH in the NSX fyi; pretty much pulling 1m19’s the whole way; i couldnt match the leaders 1:16 to 1:17’s As i never did figure out a couple corners and could tell i was losing massive time in them)

A quick shout out to MrRacingline @SRT DK Racing who ran an incredible race in that ‘vette  well done for 3rd sir 👍

I know Desert. Still people who are bored at engine and race sounds would not even watch this.

But great that there is a stream. Lets just stay positive because it seems I am only complaining. That was not my intention.

The video clips are taken from two different videos. The first bit is to give context as to why I decided to take one last pit stop and the second clip is to show the gap I had to make up on Rinsky and how much time I had left in the race to do so. Also I've played every game from GT3 up GTS with the music on in the background and don't mind it. Also the second clip is actually from the live race as I was lucky to have that for the information but if I hadn't it would have been the replay video that doesn't show the gap between players or how much time is left in the race.

I have to ask. With a little over 5 minutes left. Why didn't you put on RS? You could have ran him down sooner. You're lucky RINSKY didn't put up much of a fight.

You play yourself with the music on ?? I thought you made a video and added that music lol.

Yep I have the music from the game on when I race. To me its more of a background noise when racing.

I mainly stick to one set of tires through out the race and that last pit stop was really a gamble on my part. Plus I'm guessing Rinsky pry had as much tires or more as I had before pitting. What I didn't show was that the last fuel stop we both went in at the same time so by the end we were both hurting on tires but I made the call to go in one last time for fresher tires to finish out. I believe through out the race I think everyone raced on RM or RH tires.

If I didn't start making mistakes at the end of race. I might have been in this fight. Then again if I wasn't shoved off track in turn 8 by the McLaren driver on lap 10. I wouldn't have been in catch up mode to begin with.

Pretty bummed that I missed such a great race. But, were there two Meganes? We don't need more of those things.

It was a mistake on my part for not clarifying what Megane was available on the list. Because of that I let him keep the car for that race and that race only.

I couldn't have if I wanted to. I had nothing left to fight with at the end.

I was right behind you two when that happened. Nothing looked intentional just two people racing hard at full speed. He lost some control from the rear you two bumped and in the sand you went. I knew you were not going to be happy about that..who would but it really was a racing incident. I did the same thing to @Venster as I lost control as he was passing me and I sent him off the track but luckily it was to bad and he recovered quickly. I felt bad.

Wow what a great race yesterday and to think some people don't like Willow Springs. Yet it offered up some of the best endurance racing this year.

I qualified decent but like many times I moved myself to the last position on the grid. The first 30 minutes of the race I was pushing my car hard and even managed to work my way up to 3rd and I could see 1st & 2nd up ahead. Pushing my car that hard was really eating through RM and my car started to fall off the pace quickly as 4th & 5th got back around me easily on much fresher tires. I decided to put on RH on my 3rd stop and that proved to be a mistake and one I couldn't recover from. After taking a trip through the sand a few times I quickly came back in and swapped out for RM once again leaving me in 10th place where I would remain for awhile.

My strategy now was just like in the beginning to drive the wheels off of it and try to start chasing down 9th @Cold Warrior. Not an easy task as they were turning lap times comparable to mine but in about 11 laps I was able to catch and pass 9th as he went into the pits. Next was @Racer283 who was 6 seconds ahead and held that gap until he pitted so I dove in right behind him and when we came out the gap was down to 4 seconds. The last 30 minutes proved to be the best racing of the night as chasing down @Racer283 was no easy task but once I did we had some great intense battles swapping positions back and forth. We even had one of the leaders just ride behind us for awhile to let us battle it out. Thank you for that.

With about 6 laps to go racer jumped into the pits for a quick stop but I decided to take my chance and stay out. My tires were shot from trying to catch racer and the from racing him. The 2 second I gained on him on our last pitstop together would come back to haunt me as I was running out of fuel and had to switch to FM 4 for the last two laps.
I see @Racer283 gaining 2 seconds a lap after his last stop and half way through the next to last lap he came back around me with ease. I tried to hold on but with all 4 tires bright red and .7 fuel going Into the last lap it was over for me. I crossed the finish line with no grip left, .1 fuel remaining and a big smile on my face.
Even though my strategy didn't work as planned it sure set me up for some of the best racing I've had in awhile.

Well I did give him some time for an apology. Now the racer in me is complaining.
Why he attempted a pass their if he was having stability issues so early in race is the annoying part. I know he was having handling issues when I was been hide him in the beginning of the race. Yes, you can make passes at turn 8 but, it's also a great place to make enemies as well. That's why I'll only make passes there when I'm confident in my car's handling.

I learned from run one race GT6 a lot. The Big Willow is an interesting place for tires. The long turns are terrible on your tire wear but, the dusty track doesn't provide a lot grip. Then it's not the easiest place to make a pass either. So grip vs track position.
My 4WD allowed to last longer on RM than most. So I planned on a 3 stop strategy every 18 laps. From what I learned from Racer283's last run is that I probably should went with a 4 stop strategy more grip.

@micantony I thought there would be an additional lap and having only fuel for 1.4 laps I decided to play it safe (fuel 6) during what I thought was the second last lap, that overtake before the finish line was nicely done. Interesting to see the different pit strategies. Understeer was killing my Lexus in the corners (turn 2 & 9) but it was fairly fast on the straights. 2 stop strategy with RH worked well since I find it difficult switching between tyre compounds during races

@Rinsky dont feel bad, if it’s the incident I think it was I was probably just as much at fault, as you slid or understeered I at the same point turned in and we met in the middle. I felt more at fault because it was maybe ambitious round the outside there, I tried to let you back past and you did the same so we ended crawling along for a minute there!

It was a fun race though, ruined my own race after trying an undercut on @Cooper2k, pushing to hard ended in a very long and painful trip in to the desert where I ended up about as far away from track as you could with everything damaged! I lost an insane amount of time on that!

That said I had some of the cleanest door to door racing I’ve had in the game with @Hasse R and @Cooper2k in the first stint. Great driving by both of them, side by side through the technical stuff without taking each other out exactly how the racing should be.

No idea how I ended up getting back to second, the last five minutes my front left pretty much was entirely red and crossed the line 0.5 fuel I think!

Yeah, i saw you post that after the race, so if you had realized, 4th was easily yours.
But I’ll take it any way i can get it sometimes :dopey:
Fun racing with you. I could tell some sections i was quicker and others you were. Makes it interesting.

Here are the final race results from Willow Springs.

I assume I will get to start last for missing Big Willow?? It doesnt really matter though, the race is 2.5 hours long, its not like "man, if I started first at Lemans I think I could have held you guys off for the win."
I'll be at the back too and hopefully by then your wheel is working right

I'm putting myself at the back again for the heck of it.
But yes if you missed the November race then you start in the back.

I am in for Le Mans. I thought I had requested the Lexus for that event a while back but I am too lazy to look now. If the Ferrari is available I will use that. Thanks.

On the fence about Le Mans, on one hand it’ll be fun with what seems like a full field and Mulsanne will negate some of the RCZ’s weaknesses, but on the other hand 2.4 hours is way too long for this game. I’ll be exhausted and at the very end of my attention span driving around by myself with no weather or time changes or any variables over that time. And I really don’t want to disconnect after racing for 2 hours which is probably what will happen. 1.5 hours is about the longest race that’s feasible in GTS.

I’d be in for the same race held in PCARS though. Since it’s the game for endurance racing.

The race at Willow was already boring on my end, didn’t really race with anyone the entire race. and I was tired after two hard FIA races already that night. I was getting a bad headache and my fingers were slipping off the analog sticks and I was forgetting how to drive the track by the end of it. But at least I got my fuel strategy right, I ran out right at the finish line. That RCZ is not fun to drive. It was a second slower on softs than the Trophy could run on mediums. It’s probably been since about March since I’d used a FWD Gr.4 car, back when the original Megane was dominant.

So I’ll probably be out for Le Mans since it seems like everyone is going to be attending, I’ll just show up if you need a field filler.

Edit: just found out my work Christmas party is on the 1st so I won’t be able to race anyway
