I wonder what they'll name the team? The Grizzlies are already the minor league hockey team and the baseball team is the Bees. I just hope they don't do something stupid and call them the Gulls (the seagull is the state bird). The Pioneers would be kind of cool as would the Elks.
Salt Lake Soakers, baby!

Yeah, I was going to say...

In this Sunshine State Series, it was the Florida Panthers roaring their way into the next round sending the Tampa Bay Lightning packing. Congratulations to your Panthers, Omnis! Up next... Florida may face either the Boston Bruins or the Toronto Maple Leafs. But as of right now, BOS leads the BOS/TOR series 3-1. So unless the Maple Leafs can get it together, prepare to meet those boys from Boston.

Also advancing are the New York Rangers, sweeping the Washington Captials. They will get the winner of (CAR/NYI), and the Carolina Hurricanes are ahead in their series 3-1. So I doubt we'll have an NYR/NYI next round unless Carolina completely collapses.

Rangers-Islanders would be lit. Kind of dreading Boston or Toronto no matter who wins lol. Hockey is crazy.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are DONE. The Boston Bruins knocked out Toronto from the NHL Playoffs with a 2-1 victory in Overtime. This was a Game 7- winner takes all. Boston will move on to face the Florida Panthers in the next round. This series starts on May 6 in Sunrise, FL, USA.

Dude where are all you Canadians? These hockey games have been awesome. Go cats!

The Carolina Hurricanes are DONE. The New York Rangers sent the 'Canes packing with a 5-3 victory at the Hurricanes. The New York Rangers won this series 4-2 over Carolina. New York Rangers will meet the winner of the FLA/BOS series in the Eastern Conference Final. The Panthers lead the FLA/BOS series 3-2 with Game 6 later tonight.

The Western Conference Semifinal is still yet to be settled. The Dallas Stars lead the Colorado Avalanche 3-2 heading into Game 6, and the Vancouver Canucks lead the Edmonton Oilers 3-2 heading into Game 6. So we're guaranteed a Canadian team in the Western Conference Final series.

Big bad Boston Bruins. Well, not bad enough to tame the Florida Panthers. Omnis' Florida Panthers ADVANCE! These Cats are one series away from playing for Lord Stanley's Cup. It's Panthers vs. Rangers next series. So the Panthers will meet another Original Six team after dispatching the also Original Six Bruins.

As for Boston, congratulations on a great season. Sadly for Boston, they're DONE.

...and then, there were four. One step closer to the Stanley Cup Finals are these two series:

  • FLA Panthers vs. NYR Rangers
  • DAL Stars vs. EDM Oilers

Two will play in the Championship series for the beautiful Stanley Cup, two others will have to try again next season. Enjoy the Conference Finals!

Half of the Stanley Cup Finals is set! Meet your Eastern Conference Champions for the 2023-2024 NHL season- the Florida Panthers! We'll have to see if Omnis' Panthers will meet the Dallas Stars or the Edmonton Oilers to play for Lord Stanley's Cup. Currently, the DAL/EDM series is 3-2 in favor of the Edmonton Oilers. Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals will be played tomorrow in Dallas.

We have our Stanley Cup Finals! For Lord Stanley's Cup, we have:

FLA Panthers vs. EDM Oilers

The Oilers ended the Stars' season with a 2-1 victory tonight, taking the WCF in 6 games. Will be Stanley Cup be won by a Canadian team for the first time since 1993? Or will the Stanley Cup return to Florida but NOT by the Lightning? Find out when the 2023-2024 season Stanley Cup Finals begin!

Tell it, GTPlanet NHL fans... who will be the 2023-2024 NHL Champion and (optional) in how many games?

It'd be nice for the Panthers to win the Cup since they've never won it and got close last season. But in the end, I think the Oilers take it in 6 games. Connor McDavid is due for a Cup and Ken Holland has built a good team up in Edmonton.

The 2023-2024 NHL Season's Stanley Cup Finals begin this Saturday. The first two games of the Stanley Cup Final will take place in Sunrise, FL, USA. The Florida Panthers are looking for their first Championship. Edmonton, meanwhile, is seeking their sixth Championship. I do sort of want the Panthers to win the Stanley Cup in support of fellow GTPlaneer Omnis. However (and Joey D does make some good points), the Oilers are very much deserving of respect for the season they've had. Edmonton even went on a 16-game winning streak during the course of this season.

You all are still free to predict who will win the Stanley Cup this season.

Being an Edmonton resident, I guess I must cheer the team on, but win or lose, there will probably be fires in the streets... again...

The Stanley Cup may be the most beautiful trophy of the four major American sports. Tonight begins the final series to determine who will become the Champions of the 2023-2024 NHL season. Will it be the Florida Panthers winning their first-ever Championship, or will it be the Edmonton Oilers winning their sixth Championship? All you have to do is win four games. The best-of-7 to determine who wins the Stanley Cup begins tonight!

By the way, and just so you know... we're talking about Lord Stanley's Cup given to the champions of the NHL, not that stupid Stanley Cup meme from TikTok or whatever. Anyhow... enjoy the Stanley Cup Final!

I can't watch the Panthers at home anymore because they always lose when I do. I fell asleep after the 1st period and they turned 0-1 into 4-1.

Love seeing the stadium full and rocking like that. In truth, Panthers fans are all the same people that were orange bowl era Dolphins fans but moved north. Good people, not morons. Nobody being rude AF getting up in the middle of the game, being late to their seats, etc., like in Basketball and Football.

It's crazy though that even when Edmonton had the 1 goal lead, they only had 1 shot on goal. Fingers crossed that the cats bring Lord Stanley home.

I don't know if you heard this, but the Arizona Coyotes turned Utah NHL team will be called...

...the Utah Hockey Team.

I think (and hope) it's a temporary name. So this name is as attractive as the Washington Football Team. Be the best Hockey Team superfan! The house is packed with Hockey Teams! Go... Hockey Team, go!

...you get the idea. I hope...

Yup, it's a temp name for just next year while they figure it out. It'll almost certainly be the Utah Yeti though.

I can't believe the Panthers dropped Game 5 at home with the cup in the building. Outrageous to concede the short-handed goal, and for Bob to let in that cheeky shot off his skates. Bobrovsky has been in space for the past 2 games. There's no way he's 100%-- I wonder if he's sick as a dog or something. He looks like a totally different guy, no focus whatsoever.

I'm glad they seem to have finally woken up, but come on man they can't let it be a Game 7 and they really needed to hoist that cup here at home.

He looks like a totally different guy, no focus whatsoever.
Welcome to the Sergei Bobrovsky playoff experience! He's well known to tend a goal like a man possessed in Philly and Colombus and carry them where they shouldn't be, only to immediately fall flat on his face when it's important to deliver.

Can the Florida Panthers finally hoist the Stanley Cup for the first time in franchise history? Or will the Edmonton Oilers continue their reverse sweep bid? If this goes to Game 7, the winner-takes-all Game 7 of the 2023-2024 Stanley Cup Final will be this Monday at the Florida Panthers. If the Panthers win the Stanley Cup tonight, congratulations!

This is going to be a ****ing countersweep. I can’t believe it.

Nah, Bettman hates Canada, all of this is for show. I'm calling it now, Chris Lee, the NHL's worst ref by a country mile is going to ref on monday, and the Panthers will comfortably win on some ******** non-call penalty or refused goal shenanigans.

If we're going by Ref chicanery, the AHL playoffs this year had plenty of that. Milwaukee got hosed in game 5 of their series against Coachella, and both Cleveland and Hershey got hosed pretty bad in their series, too.

Wouldn't be surprised if Lee had tenure in the minors and practiced his botching down in the AHL.

Reverse sweep bid still alive for Edmonton. Methinks we have Game 7 in Sunrise on Monday. Either Florida gets their first title or Edmonton completes the reverse sweep and gets their sixth.

Lord Stanley's Cup is in Sunrise, Florida, USA. A celebration will be held there for whomever will hoist this beautiful trophy. One fanbase will be elated; the other... not so much. Only question is... will it be the hometown Florida Panthers celebrating their championship at home, or will it be the Edmonton Oilers taking the Stanley Cup at least 2.5K miles northwest and past the USA/Canada border back to Edmonton? Find out tonight!

Before going any further, let's take a deeper dive into the situation at hand. Here is a stat I saw on ESPN's Sportscenter...

This is the third time in Stanley Cup Finals history where a team has forced Game 7 after trailing 3-0. The last few times:

  • 1942 Toronto Maple Leafs: WON GAME 7
  • 1945 Detroit Red Wings: LOST GAME 7
  • 2024 Edmonton Oilers: ???

Things like home advantage and stuff like that means very little in hockey and doesn't really grant any kind of advantage. You could have the loudest, most rowdy, most loyal fans making home rough for the Away team in hockey... and it won't make much difference. The impact just isn't the same like in football, basketball, or baseball. You'd still hate to be one win away from a Championship... only for the other team to reverse sweep (or counter sweep) you. That's the dilemma Florida faces in this winner-take-all Game 7.

The 2023-2024 NHL season's Stanley Cup Final has gone like this so far:
  • GM1: FLA def. EDM 3-0
  • GM2: FLA def. EDM 4-1
  • GM3: FLA def. EDM 4-3
  • GM4: EDM def. FLA 8-1
  • GM5: EDM def. FLA 5-3
  • GM6: EDM def. FLA 5-1
  • GM7: ???

Home team has one last chance to claim their first Stanley Cup championship, and the Away team will be looking for their sixth Stanley Cup championship. It will be party time for either Florida or Edmonton tonight.

Enjoy the Stanley Cup Final winner-take-all game, and congratulations to the Champions!

Man, this is already a helluva game. Playoff hockey is almost always good, but game 7 Stanley Cup hockey is another level.
