I’ve decided to create a Ring times database for road cars only, I’ve used many different sites to collect the data I have started with and only used times that have a reference or a proof of time, one of the biggest reasons besides this site not having one was that other lists are full of multiple times, race cars mixed in and so on, I wanted one with just road cars and using only the fastest times that have proof. I plan to keep this list up to date, if anyone knows of any road cars not on the list that have ran the ring, post below along with a reference or proof of the time ect.

I hope you find this list useful.

An awesome list for sure.

I wish there could be some changes though. :(

The Z06 needs to be confirmed and the McLaren needs a real driver. :P

Other than that it seems like one hell of a list.

Great work. 👍

Oh and I would love it if we could find the time for the Nismo Z-tune R34 but sadly my video of the lap doesn't show a time. :(
(think the lap was un-official since he didn't get to run past the s/f line for the start and finish  )

Still some great work.
Hopefully we will see this list continue to grow.

Thanks I did have a little help putting it together but the guy who hepled me said not to mention him, he posts on another forum. I'm waiting on the Z06, some people say it's confrmed but no one from GM has said the car seen doing that lap was a stock Z06, with all the blue devil speculation at the time I'll wait and see, better safe than wrong. The F1 wasn't driven that hard, which is fair enough since it was the guys own car  but I wouldn't expect a time to challenge the CGT.

Well spotted, it's meant to be 2004 .

Also added the Jaguar S-Type diesel at 9'59, the time driven by Jeremy Clarkson on TopGear but the car should be able to knock half a min off that if it was driven by say, Sabine.

I think all the videos of the Z tune on Nurburgring were of Z1 prototypes not the Z2 production models anyway.

Wasnt Sabines time 9'12?

Sabine got a 9'11, I think. Good list, and yes, the F1 needs a proper driver judging by the videos it wasn't driven hard.

Yes it was 9'11, well remembered VIPER that she actually drove the S-Type too, I completely forgot about that .

The Jaguar S-type and the Transit didn't use the full track. They missed out most of the back straight as that's where the pits are for road car use.

I'll note that down then.

Infact I'll take them off, I don't want the list cluttered with this car did that time but missed out this part, and that car used a different configuration of the track ect. I want to kep it to a standard.

Great List... but I do have 2 questions...

first, are these first two stock? cause, as far as I'd heard/seen, they shouldnt be much (if any) faster than the 350Z.... but I'm not completley sure..
8:10.75 - Subaru Impreza WRX STi Version III sedan - 1997
8:11 - Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IX - 2005
8:26 - Nissan 350Z - 2003
8:13 - Dodge Viper SRT-10 – 2004
2nd. who drove that Viper? and were they on a cell phone?
nevertheless, great list and great idea

Yes, all cars are stock unless it's a professional tuners car then it's refelcted in the name ie Edo Porsche ect. As for who drove the Viper I don't know but thats the fastest recorded time for it I could find anywhere, and there are slower ones. It could probably go a little faster but it only just beat the Evo VIII round the TopGear track, I don't think the Viper stock is that great considering the power. As for the Nissan 350Z, the Impreza and the Lancer Evo hammer it on a track, has been proven in every single test where you can compare times, not an isolated incident. The 350Z isn't slow, but the Evo's and Impreza's have always been exeptional in this area.

You have to take into consideration who did that Carrera G lap, it was Walther Roehrl and it's him who does most of the fastest Porsche lap times and he is one of the best Ring drivers around, in the Zonda F he might have got a faster time. Also you have track conditions, either way the two times arn't a world apart here nor were they when the Zonda beat the Carrera GT and Enzo on the TopGear track.

 how did you know i was comparing them to the Top Gear times!

Just a guess, it's the only other test you can compare the two directly that I know of.

The Viper is to power happy in the corners, you gotta drive it easier so you don't oversteer.

But the Z06 time isn't confirmed by GM and it probably won't be for a while.

Excellent work, live4speed and mysterious helper! Now I know where to look for this info (much easier to read than Nurburgring.de, and it includes more roadcars, too). :)

@Viper discussion: The Viper is by no means a terrible handler, but compared to its peers it's quite sub-par.

Great List , L4S , it just makes you want to hijack a Veyron and see if the ride height can't be made accept the nurb duty . I watch that SR8 video again and again as it feels very similar to an in-game attack .
With us on these sorts of times a real assault will befall the ring some day .

Cheers guys.

Just added...
8:50 - Mercedes Benz E55 AMG - 2000

Great list live4speed! 👍 It makes me wonder what a properly sorted McLaren F1 could do (or even better, an F1 LM). I am suprised the Mosler wasn't faster though.

I worked at Nissan when they came out and got to drive a pre-production version (I guess you could call it) and fell in love with it...I don't care what Clarkson says the 350Z is a freaking god. You wouldn't expect a natually aspirated V6 to be so fast--it's quite exhilarating. I mostly agree with what the TopGear presenters say...but I'm going with the Hamster on the 350Z. I would just never get the roadster...the roadster is so ugly.

350Z > Skyline/G35 Coupe' all day everyday.

To me the EVO seems slow--now let me explain before you people go crazy. BHP+RWD=a nice sizable G force when you floor the accelerator. I've owned a fast twin-turbo AWD car (note my nickname) and it never felt as fast as a RWD V8--even though it ate the Vette, Camaro, and Mustang alive in those years. The WRX STi does have a slight grunt in my opinon--but the 350Z "seems" faster with the feeling of brute acceleration. Oddly, the SRT4 also suffers from this as well...my '98 200SX SE-R I used to have seemed faster--but obviously wasn't.

Take these two cars for instance:

7:58 - Audi RS4 4.2 V8 FSI - 2005
7:59 - Chevrolet C6 Z51 ?

While the RS4 is faster the C6 "feels" like it's faster I'm sure because of the brute acceleration. AWD cars mostly don't have a brutal feeling to them--the 3000GT VR4 and WRX STi come very close but not close enough. Hope I made some sense.

My $0.02.

Clarkson was never mentioned??? He does like the car, he just prefers the RX8. I understand what your saying about the feeling of speed, it's not always accurate to how fast the car is actually going. I've never been in a 350Z or an Evo though so I can't comment on them specifically but I get what your saying, I have driven slower cars that feel faster than fast cars.

I'm sorry but the RX8 is rubbish. I hate that car, bring back the RX7 Touring! The slower car thing is funny really when you think about it, drive a fast car for an entire day then go back to your "peppy" econobox and you'll be quite depressed. That's what happend to me when I took a Mustang GT on a dealer trade last month--then got back in my Focus and felt demasculated. :sly:

You might hate the RX8 but it's not rubbish, it's thereabouts as fast as the 350Z. I personally prefer the 350Z, but I wouldn't really have either of them.

I want to know what the Viper GTS was doing that got it ahead of the SRT-10. Stock Gen II Vipers, although it gets blown out of proportion from time to time, definately don't handle as well as the Gen III. Either that GTS wasn't actually stock, or the SRT-10 was being driven by a very poor driver/was being run in the wet like it was on Top Gear.
