Well there are a number of things PD has to "fix" yet aside from the paint system...
The lighting is good and blurring is fine, but just like in GT5 at first, the shadows cast by the cars and environment objects are terrible, they blip and flicker and (if that means anything) seem to "poly out" sometimes. I assume this is due to them trying to make the rendering code fast and smooth, at the expense of texture and shadow maps being rendered inconsistently. O well, they fixed it in GT5 eventually, and I sincerely hope they will in GT6 as well.
Once we do get the "promised" (or better, hinted at) livery editor (which was "hinted at" in GT5's announcements as well, but never materialized), I do expect to have a selection of stripes and flames or flashes or such available to apply to any car I wish, either the base color, secondary color and graphics should be able to have different, custom colors applied to them. That means a VW Sambabus, which comes in 2-tone, should be able to be re-painted in green and silver with orange flames on the side... if I so desire. I don't expect to be able to draw your own patterns on the car, too many people would try to draw naughty things on their doors... Same applies to wheels, if they have two or more distinct colors, they should be individually replaceable. Replacement parts or custom parts such as aeros or wings should be separately paintable as well...
Don't get me started on the course editor we got made horny for... I can't even begin to describe what I would like to see there...
I'd like to see a "pro shop" where one can purchase in-game paint chips, etc... and perhaps a way to let you add custom text to your windshield like vinyl decals, manufacturer stickers like Edelbrock and GReddy... and get this: aftermarket lighting kits such as HID's or LED accents, ground effects and tint for windows (black or silver is fine, thanks)...
If we wanted to round the playing off to some real fun, PD should consider making the online system a little bit more flexible to include certain rules such as speed limits (if you go over, you get a penalty for example) and scored drift battles.
I hope that (as with GT5) PD will gradually release more content like tracks and photo mode locales. While I am pleasantly surprised that NO tracks have been removed from the last release but new tracks were added, I do think there are still a couple of oversights... Why have ABU DHABI livery on rally cars but not have the Yas Marina circuit? Goodwood fine and dandy, but why no Pikes Peak? No Vegas drag strip? Chamonix but not Whistler? No snow in the Alps (Matterhorn) and no actual night on Ascari and some others? Where is my Toscana gravel track? No return of the Complex String, Red Rock Valley, Midfield, Tahiti Maze and Grand Canyon? And my all-time favorite car, the Red Mazda Amemiya RX7 ’99, which I lovingly called the "Red Frog" has been replaced by a yellow one with ugly sponsor stickers all over it...
But not like it matters anyway, since in online events, I am such a bad driver that I get laughed at no matter how awesome my car looks or sounds...
