I was reading an article earlier today about GPS satellites that need updating. I then started reading some of the user comments and someone posted that it doesn't matter as the satellites are going to be redundant by the shift in the poles.
I've never really looked into polar shifting but I believe it happens on a natural cycle and the next one is in 2012. I did a Google search and wasn't surprised to see a whole host of different doomsday scenarios including one site mentioning that "New York will collapse 2000 feet in a matter of seconds". Sounds like a good film scene to me (maybe that's what that 2012 film is all about).
Anyway, just wondered if someone could give details of the small changes that we notice.
