Polyphony Digital Cup - Review

I decided to pick a car that would prove a bit difficult to win with. So I decided to try the Honda NSX Type R with it's 276hp, but with slower acceleration than the Type S Zero. I fitted some T3 Tyres to it so I could make 1 pit stop during each race but later on I found that I had to run the tyres ragged to keep within striking distance of the Nissan Z Concept.
I have left the ASM/TCS settings at a default of 10/5

Polyphony Digital Cup – NSX Type R - No Oil Change - T3 Tyres

Race 1 – Trial mountain II

Qualify

Nissan Z Concept – 1:36:999
Me - +806

After qualifying I knew that I would be faster in the race and knew that I would most likely have to beat the Z Concept in the pits rather than the track.

That was a great race. A couple of major bumps but otherwise it was a great clean race. I was about 5 seconds behind the two Lancers. Passing them would've been sweet.

The next race should be up today if I don't get interupted. ;).

Race 2 – Midfield Raceway II

Qualify

Me – 1:23:359
Nissan Z Concept + 2 seconds

This tells me that my car has a speed and acceleration advantage over the rest of the field so this should be a relatively easy race that’ll depend on the pit strategies of the other drivers.

The race stewards are reviewing the rplay of the race to see if they can clarify what happened on the final turn of the first lap. THe team have annouced that there was no faults with the car or the driver so an outside source is now the prime suspect. Thhe stewards should have the answers by the next race.

Good race. My speed advantage that I thought I had wan't actually real. Every AI car ran very wide into turn 6 losing about 2 seconds per lap so that explains the easy win. I just wish I'd have been able to lap the entire field. That would've been the icing on the cake.

Now it's on to Rome II. Will I be-able to keep this winning streak up. You'll find out soon enough. :D

To have a real test of skill, why not try running with stock tyres since the computer is running with stock tryres too. I once ran a fully stock NSX Type S Zero, with the toughest opponent being Nissan Z Concept. I had some really nice races. Well in any case, great write-up. Keep up the good work.

I don't think the AI cars run stock tires. Because can't the Corvette be found in that competition? It pits like every 2 laps. Or maybe I'm thinking of another championship. But I've seen the Supra go a pretty good distances before making a pit stop.

Fury's right. Some cars go ridiculous distances before pitting and they usually suffer from major tyre damage so some probably run on T3's or T4's. But others like the Corvette do run on T8's.
Look at the Mazda 1.8i / Mazda LS at the Roadster enduro, that thing pits 13 times in 40 laps. Also a lot of cars that run the SS Enduro pit every 5 laps. Nissan Skyline R and S Tunes come to mind.
So some cars will run stock tyres but others race special tyres just like we do.

You might be right. It's just that everytime when i've ran that cup with stock tyres, the computer seems to pit almost the same time I do.

is it the case that the AI setup is chosen around your own car selection..... ie the faster and stickier your car is the better equiped the field is. or am i totally wrong? (I am after all a noob ;))

i think any car use diferent settings.
and also diferent type of tire ( each tire have diferent specifications like: mph, temperature, tire wear, psi, etc etc

maybe that sound stupid for you but i thing this change #s of laps you can make in you'r car.

i don't say that is true or not but that make sense for me.
