In a game with free DLC, I now have to pay a (quite expensive) monthly subscription for tunes for a single game.
Expensive? But it's just a "Big Mac"! To give you some perspective:
In America, $5 is 1/3 the cost of a PS Plus Extra sub. PS Plus makes up for the price by giving you the ability to play online, free monthly games and a catalog of 100+ games you can download.
Netflix basic costs $7 monthly. It has ads, but gives you the full content.
A Tier 1 Twitch subscription costs $6 as of August 2024. Depending on who you support, they'll provide daily content and many hours of entertainment, not to mention other bonuses. Their setup is also generally more expensive than Praiano's (some have multiple consoles, in addition to capture cards and all the audio/video setup in their studio, whereas Praiano has PS5, TV and wheel).
All of the above provide better bang for your buck than Praiano's new service.
Besides, when you put a price on things that used to be free, people will complain. It's how it works.

I understand some people are upset, I get it. Every life situation is unique. The world is constantly changing. And you’re entitled to your opinion by all means. While it’s easy for one to judge his changes in life, maybe evaluate your own situation as well. Not as easy.
You will not regret the $5, I have been having a ton of fun with these new setups! And there are many to choose from. The organization and layout they have setup on there makes it so much easier find cars. Every single tune results in the car being on rails!
On point, dialed in, just drive.
I mean this in a serious way…. If you're physically and mentally able to, and you truly don’t have the $5…..Go to your family, neighbors, friends, boss, businesses - explain the situation to them in a serious way. Tell them you need to try these tunes and that you’re willing to work as it just doesn’t fit your situation. Explain how Praiano is a specialist and that Patreon is his new platform.
Explain how much fun the game is and that it’s apart of your free time in life. Does that sound silly to ask someone? Possibly. Tell them 12 million people have viewed his thread, that doesn’t sound silly. Maybe someone in your life is willing to help your situation. Maybe it could lead to making more money in the future.
Laugh at me if you want. Be angry about it with messages. The added effort to secure funds, while trivial to some, is worth it in my opinion. Let me reiterate - every single Praiano tune I have ever implemented has resulted in the car being on absolute rails. Then and now. Pure pleasure to drive. I hope you try the Patreon and “you have to do you in life”

@praiano63 any chance you can look at the "Mazda RX500 '70" as since update 1.42 it's taken this long for it to be available in "Legendary Dealer" today so I don't want to ruin it if the 1.42 setup doesn't work apply to 1.50, please?

I’m interested in the Patreon as I’d happily pay a bit to get good tunes but I notice most of the tunes are older road cars.
Do you plan to do some of the more popular Gr.4/Gr.3 cars? There are some other really fun cars like the Mazda VGT or the formula-style cars too. I wonder if you will tune them?
Is there a general rule of thumb for getting cars driveable after the update? I find a lot of cars base tunes to be EXTREMELY skittish now. Obviously there is no substitute for the time you put into tuning them properly but if I just wanted to get a car that you’ve not tuned yet into a driveable state for a weekly challenge, what accommodations could I make for the new physics?

The prices charged by corps is relatively low, due to scale. If Sony had just 10 ps customers, the cost would go up significantly, or they'd remove the service/go bust.
I do agree though, people tend get annoyed if you change cost of something, even if price change is fair.
Come across it previously myself when I used to run an online venture. Had to increase costs to make it viable and some got really upset about it. To be honest they were getting way too much value initially.
But it doesn't matter, people are free to find another company, or do it themselves if they aren't happy with the value proposition.
Unless its an essential service like electric or water, the market will decide if something is over priced or not. Praiano's tunes arent an essential service, that will cause people to die AFAIK, if they can't afford them. If you feel it's over priced, then use other tuners or do it yourself.
If you gave a load of people £500 a month for doing nothing, then removed it, a % of them would get annoyed by it/towards you... even though it was free money.
People wanting something/everything for nothing is a problem too, never mind greed as someone else mentioned.

Sure i'll do Gr3 and Gr4. I've decided to do mostly BOP racing cars because this is the only way to race most of them fairly. PD did a very good job. Not perfect but it's a very fair way to race indeed.
I have 7 Gr3 and 3 Gr4 for the moment , coming a lot more soon. Also some maxed Gr3 for 800PP offline events.
For lobby race you just need to set your room this way. Just take out the Anti- lag option.

Thanks for coming back to me. I might wait a bit and come back to the game when some more cars are tuned. Hate when updates break everything and make the cars undriveable without pro tuning!
When I say the weekly challenges, I just mean the single player stuff. I don’t race online - too many dirty drivers. Although to be fair, the AI is just as dirty!!! 😂

This person is so skilled, and put so much time in to this, that they can tune a vehicle QUICKLY with a fraction of a fraction of the effort someone like you and I can. And we still wouldn't be anywhere near as good.
@praiano63 isn't greedy. Yeah, you and I can attempt to tune and crappily accomplish what he does with the free info out there, but they have already filtered out the signal:noise and figured out the best way to do this stuff. The amount of time saving is INCREDIBLE.
I've been in a similar boat, multiple times. People saying they refuse to pay for info that is "readily" available that I provide. @praiano63 is putting the info out there. There are a ton of folks that just don't bother to put their stuff out there for others. Be thankful and stop being entitled.
Anyways, thanks @praiano63 . You've increased my enjoyment of this game immensely. I'm going to sign up for your patreon.

Hey, the dodge tomahawx x vgt used for afk credits is like, real real messed up. I've set it to stock, i've done several things. I've softened the rear, hardened it, raised, lowered it. Cars bounce like crazy. If you're not familiar this is a near afk grind on the big daytona oval where you use a rubberband etc etc. But, if the 19 tomahawks are bouncing? Ya hit em and lose that clean race bonus!!!

You think you are entitled to getting others work for free? I bet Praiano is spending A LOT of hours for his work. Whats wrong with asking for money for his work? More than 600 people are happily paying this price. If thats too much for than make your own tunes.
Are you a 12 year old racing go karts or what? Cant imagine something different with this attitude.
Protip: If you ask your mum nicely for 5 dollars you can get a month and screenshot the builds.
