Hello everyone.

Before posting I read a few threads in this forum but didn't encounter any problem similar to ours.

Just yesterday we went out with a friend and he bought a new Logitech G27 with the wheel stand pro. I| am an owner of a logitech g25 that plays absolutely gorgeous and am very pleased with it.

We connected it last night at his house and the wheel feels completely differently than what it is supposed to - or in other words completely different than mine.

There is no sense of FFB, hitting a wall makes no difference at all and is set on FFB 10 in the menus and I still don't get as much resistance as I get from my g25 set on FFB=5. And it just feels wrong.

Problem is, the GT5 is WITHOUT any updates at all since my friend has no internet at his house, and I am just a visitor to his hometown, so we have got to find a solution.

...so the game is UNPATCHED. Could this be the problem? There is no other game we can use to test the wheel (I play a lot of pc games, but he has no pc) and I haven't played any other racing games on the PS3 so that I can tell if it's a GT problem or a wheel problem.

Can anyone confirm the same problem and solutions? We are at his work atm and wont be able to test till later on. Expecting your answers anxiously.

unpatched is no issue.
are you sure you have checked the GT5 ff/simulation settings?
im not sure about G27 internal settings but im sure it has some.
also wheel settings for FF and the Gt5 FF settings might be contrary (in my wheel it overides GT5 settings if i set FF to higher than 1 but this might be different for you.

I also lost my wheel settings once because i pulled the power plug drunk.
In this case it helped to reconfigure the wheel settings on my pc. Also logitech usually provides PC drivers and software. If your friend has a pc, you can verify all wheel functions on any pc with either CD-ROm and or inet.

Did PD FINALLY fully support the G25/27?? I mean, on my game, wich is up to date, I cannot adjust anything about the FFB.

My g27 works fine with gt5 but I can't configre buttions. I think your friend might need to return his wheel for a replacement.

My g27 works fine. I get the feel of road bumps over/under steer.
Is the power cable connected properly? it may be loose. Does it do that turn from left to right when you start the ps3/ GT5?

I have had no problems when playing GT5 other then my Position sensor failing on me 3 times.
Used this guide
http://www.jlvrh.de/G27_UK.htm
to get it repaired. I also have to admit the first 3 times I did not use Lock-tight on the sensor screws but the 4th time I did glue the sensor wheel to the shaft and blue lock-tight on the 2 screws and it hasn't had a problem in almost 3 months now.

You might want to try setting the FF in the GT5 menu lower and then move it up as I tried to start it at 10 but felt like it wasn't working. I am not sure if the firmware of the G27 is touchy but after driving at ff3 I moved it to 8 and it feels a world of difference.

So, the gt5 being updated is out of the question, huh?

The G27 initializes when it starts (goes from one end to the other). As soon as I get home I will try lowering the ffb and increasing it a bit by bit to check in all adjustments. I tried 5 and 10 in ffb and sucked both time.

I can only see slight resistance. It would be great help if someone could actually confirm that when you hit the wall it actually responds. I wonder if there's a way to actually check if it's a cable problem or not.

If I don't see any changes I'll probably return it back. :/

Alvin... So if you hit a wall you get ffb response? Is it normal for logitech wheels to have problems?

yeah I do get a ffb response and I don't think so. I had a DFGT before my G27 and the only problem I had was a stick gas accelotar pedal on the DFGT.

Any other games to try it on? Maybe test it on a PC to make sure it's not somehow broken?

Sucks your buddy doesn't have updated GT5... he's still got the bumper/brake problem.

I haven't touched any of the settings for my G27. Purely because it's not 100% supported (button config). I either start up with G27 plugged in or plug it in when the game is loaded, the G27 configures itself (turns left an right full-lock then centers).

As for FFB, when you hit a wall you will know if it's working correctly. If you want to try a test drive slowly on a ripple strip, the wheel goes crazy :)

Can't think of any fixes for the problem your having tho, apart from returning to place of purchase an explaining what's going on an getting it fixed/repaired/replaced.

Well, as strange as it might sound, it actually worked when I turned ffb down to 3 and then up to 10 as suggested above! The wheel turned alive, although it doesn't feel as strong as mine! :)

No idea if this has anything to do with it, but the G25 and G27 feel very different, one of my best buddies owns a 25 and brought it over a few weeks ago, didnt feel anything like my wheel.

Don't forget the G25 uses Straight cut Gears for the FFB, while the G27 uses Cylindrical cut Gears for reduced noise and strength.
