PS2 CD-Player

[Concept]

Has anybody noticed that the quality of the CDPlayer on the PS2 is really...shall I say...CHEAP! On some of my CD's it wont even play them. On my stereo and CDPlayer in car also on my computer they play fine but on the PS2 they sometimes wont even play! Also, the sound completly sucks on it. Has anybnosy else had this problem and/or noticed the lack of a good sound?

It's just like a DVD player, you can't use low-quality CD's, so if you want to listen to burned CD's, splurge.

The sound quality (and tracking quality) of the Playstations has always been inferior to any decent CD player...I noticed a considerable improvement when I switched to a "real" CD player.

That would be because it's a video game console, not a dedicated audio CD/DVD player.

Our Pioneer DVD player is FAR superior to the PS2 for DVD and CD quality.

Still, the PS2 is a big improvement over tape and VHS!
