Remember Me - Memory Remix Gameplay

Siliconera
Remember Me takes place in Neo-Paris in the year 2084. This is a setting where personal memories can be digitized, bought, sold and traded. It’s a world without privacy, where social networks have become incredibly prevalent, and citizens themselves have accepted to trade privacy for the comfort of smart technology.

In Remember Me, you play as a character named Nilin, who is a former memory hunter. She has the ability to break into people’s minds, after which she can steal or alter their memories. Scared of her abilities, the authorities have arrested Nilin and wiped her memory clean. Ultimately, she escapes from prison and sets out to recover her memory.

Remember Me uses a “Memory Remix” feature, where you enter people’s minds using Nilin’s power and alter their memories in real-time. This will result in characters changing their perspective of both themselves and the people around them.

Capcom will publish Remember Me in North America sometime in May 2013 for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The game will have localized voice-overs in English, French, German, Spanish and Italian, as well as subtitles in Russian, Polish, and Brazilian Portuguese.

Remember Me Was Originally Set As An Exclusive Game Titled "Adrift"

Playstation Lifestyle
The revelation comes from Dontnod co-founder Oskar Guilbert, who said that their newly announced, Capcom published, AAA new IP Remember Me was originally being published by Sony as Adrift. But last year, Sony wanted a different game than what Dontnod aimed, and stopped production on the title – along with “a number of games”:

Sony wanted to focus on a different type of game and we don’t really fit with that. But we’re in a very good relationship with them. They stopped a number of games last year at Sony and we took back the IP rights and were able to continue to develop it thanks to the support of the investors. We were then able to sign the game to a publisher who’s portfolio is a better fit for the game.

Considering the game only left Sony last year and is out next May you’d think the game will end up just like what would have happened if had stayed exclusive, but Guilbert said:

We didn’t show the game last year, but we showed concept artwork. This project is not exactly the same, it is an evolution. The concept of what we had with Sony was different.

I like the concept of the Memory Remix feature. Hopefully the player will get to perform all sorts of scenarios with it.

Want!

Ok, it looks really cool except for the whole escape from the helicopter scene - he doesnt even hit her once... with a freakin minigun?! Seriously?! The running/jumping also looks very rough.

Really looking forward to this; hopefully it will have good PC support.

This will be a game to hook up to my TV and play with a controller... sweet.

Looks pretty good, reminded me of some sort of hybrid of Blade Runner, Perfect Dark, Nikita and somehow the London level of Tomb Raider 3. Voice acting is a little wonky though, intonation on the wrong words and an English voice seemingly from the Dick Van Dyke "Mary Poppins?" school of accents. Either she's not English and can't do an English accent, or she's just really bad. Or both.

What? I seriously didn't hear any of that in there. In the first bit she seemed to have an Angelina Jolie style English accent from Tomb Raider, so a pretty good one. Other snippets did sound different...but Dick Van Dyke's mangled Cockney tones - nope.

It's Capcom, so I expect it'll take a good few months to come to PC but when it does it'll have all of the DLC released up to that point. It'll probably be a straight port too so 1080p with a controller will probably be the most sensible way to play it... That is if Resident Evil 5 and 6 are anything to go by, though Capcom are making more of an effort with PC lately I think.

And I too thought her accent was a bit weird, mainly because no one I've ever met or seen on TV sounds like that.

Definitely unusual, agreed, though not bad, at I least I didn't think so. Maybe I'm used to accents and unusual variations :) from past work.

Looks really cool, love the design themes. Will be thrilling to see how the gameplay works... same with watch_dogs. :)
