The great designer and friend of Jack Brabham has passed away, aged 95. I was a great admirer of his cars. He co-founded the Brabham team.
In addition to the Brabham cars up to 1972, he was responsible for the very successful Ralt cars.
In particular the BT20 and BT24 dominated the 1966 and 1967 F1 seasons, and the BT29 was sublime as a Formula Atlantic machine.
My favorite was the rare BT8 sports car, with such beautiful lines. His Indy cars regularly finished in high positions.
His designs were noted at the time for their simplicity, robust reliability, and terrific handling qualities.
