Next Points Race

6/22, 15. 1.5 Hours of Watkins Glen

Race Details
Watkins Glen International Long Course, 90 Minutes Race, Late Morning Start, Time Change x8, Night Driving Yes, Weather Change Random, Rain No, Tires Required RH RM RS, Tires x6, Fuel x3, Fuel At Start 97%, 15 Minutes GT Group Qualifying, Corner Penalties Weak, Wall Penalties None, Pit Line Penalty Off, Contact Penalty On, x1.5 Points Payout

Only 1 day until our season final at the Watkins Glen Long Course. We unfortunately may not have the Gr.3 class this round but, the show will go on unless some unknown event says otherwise. Corner penalties are on weak. Since Gran Turismo can be penalty happy here. No pit line penalties because I think making drivers craw the apex of the last corner is stupid and dangerous. I've lost count how many times I've been clipped entering this pit. Please still abide the exit line. I don't want drivers cutoff others exiting the pits.

It's here guys. Race day for the final round of the 2024 Saturday Night Endurance League at the legendary Watkins Glen. This 90 minutes feature on the long course will close out our season. A total 15 point races over a course of 6 months made up this championship. While the top 3 spots for Gr.3 have already been decided. Regardless of whether or not the class runs tonight. The top 3 in Gr.1 are up for grabs. It's the mid tier x1.5 points scoring this race. See you guys tonight.

Replay posted. Race results above. I finalize points tomorrow.

Thank you everyone who raced in the 2024 season. I hope this series will be back for season 3 in 2025. The Le Mans race will swap to the No Chicane layout for odd years. I'll be on break for at least the early summer. Check in for details on the Fall series and for any special I feel hosting.

As for the prizes I mentioned. The class winners are allowed 2 track picks for the 2025 season. Or in this case sole winner of both classes gets 4 picks, 2 for each class. The 2nd and 3rd place finishers both classes get 1 track pick each for 2025 season. Track picks do not to be in until 4 weeks out of the planned start time. This year the cutoff December 7th, 2024 Hawaii time or by 5:00am Eastern. No dirt, snow, or Nurb Tourist. Make sure to be layout specific or I may get creative. Repeat visits are allowed even in one season.

I feel like I had said something early on about doing a league or at least hosting some races. I came across a few of my old pony & muscle cars looking at my cars in the my garage and I kind of think a mixed or maybe a race in each category on a few of our off weeks or in the off season could be fun.

Here is a few pics of the Pony Series Camaro Concept I have made. Still thinking about the custom BoP settings and testing to see what kind of performance I would like them to have. But I think I am happy with the livery requirements I have come up with in my head and they are shown here on this car.

Yes this is way too sophisticated of series markings for a race car's of this era. At best there would be square or circle background if that. Some series they would just paint the number on the car. The old AMG Touring car is a example of what they did back then. Though it's surprisingly well sponsored for the era.

There are also some of us who do not do our own liveries. I'm not really a video game player but I am a racer and car enthusiast, it would take me a long time to learn how to make my own livery.

Yes I know the series markings are more sophisticated than that of the original T/A series. I was just inspired and not looking to make exact replicas. I was originally thinking about doing it with the modern cars but I didn’t have many of them so I pivoted to the older cars. I also have it set up to hopefully have both classes racing at the same time and there are a couple of the cars that straddle the line of both so they could be in either group. So I wanted to have a way to tell them apart from each other. I think the thought process for the series markings was in the mid 90s when the Impala SS was showing up on streets this series started at a regional/local track or car club. So I would be ok with people making a replica livery and just adding the required decals to make it series legal and some making a more modern livery.

As for the sponsorships that is a place I struggle with because I never know where to stop. Sometimes I feel like there is just too much open space.

Sorry for the long wondering response.

As part of my testing I’ll have to make many other cars so I will likely end up making liveries for those as well and I would make a template of just the requirements and allow others to put any extras they might want. I could also make liveries for others. If you know of others that make them they could make one. I also know others that make amazing liveries that could potentially create some for someone needing one. Not being able to make a livery would never be a barrier to joining any races I would host.

I can't guarantee my presentation aways. I was planning on spending my summer doing the master licenses and car collecting. There's quite a few expensive toys I lack. My 2 top targets are the McLaren F1 road car and the Ferrari 330. Both of which are now at the 20 million credits price cap. A long with that I want to complete stuff in other video games I've been ignoring too. I my run a special around my birthday at the end of July. Since it will be during the 2 weeks of no racing because of Olympics. Otherwise I wasn't planning on anything until September. And I not 100% set what exactly I want to do for the fall league anyways.

No problem but if I do get to the point where I’m ready to do a test race or something I’ll keep the group posted. This is the first place I have mentioned it but if I am able to get more serious with it I’ll spread the word in some of the leagues I race on that use discord.

I decided to put a quick Muscle car version with just the required decals. The light grey box is just a representative of the area that you could put the side number board. The windshield banner wouldn't require the exact Pontiac decal but the outside ones would be required and something showing the manufacture in either text or logo or both like this one.

Hey guys today is the 4th of July holiday for the US. Happy 4th of July to all the Americans. We are busy moving stuff around the house. Because some problematic household member finally getting the boot. It's been very long time coming event. We're the ones unfortunately stuck moving their stuff out. Anyways my birthday is coming up at the end of this month and I think about hosting some kind of Special that weekend. Provided we get everything straightened out by then. I post about it if it's happening. Until then enjoy your summer.

Well it case anyone hasn't heard yet. There's a big update coming on the end of the month coincidentally on my birthday July 25th. The update is to along with 6 new cars, the return of Gran Turismo 5 & 6 era track Eiger Nordwand, and some other goodies. It's not confirmed if Eiger Nordwand will include the off-road layouts. Please beware it the Eiger Nordwand road course still includes the big jump. I may chose to not the track as an option for the main series. Having high downforce cars get airborne is usually not a good idea. Especially in an official competition. There is also supposed to be a psychics update. Unfortunately this would be right before for the date for that special event I been considering. So I now have to take that into account now. Have a happy summer.

I think I have things sorted out for my series, at least a test of it anyway. I’m looking at August 10th for the first weekend.

Out of respect for @Cold Warrior I’ll create a separate thread here and link it here this week sometime for anyone interested.
Go ahead I probably won't be do a summer special like I hoped. Plus doing 2 days after the psychics update may not be the best decision. We got a lot of house work to do. Thanks to a particular problematic former resident. I'm still looking at running some sort of limited run series for the Fall. Maybe like 2 races or events a month September, October, and November. If you do a good job at attracting players I may hire you as promoter. I've repeatedly learned that I may not be the most charismatic person.

Sorry about your former resident.

If you do it I’d give it a go otherwise I’ll wait till your limited fall series.

I’m not sure I’m a promoter type. I don’t see myself as that charismatic either.

I am in a few different groups so my times might be a bit earlier than yours so it’s not to late for Europeans to join.

Well it was worth a try. Anyways I'm aware of this series is too late for the European and at the same time too early for the Eastern countries. According to the one Japanese that tried us a few years ago. Unfortunately this time frame works best for my chosen nocturnal schedule. It would be easier for me to push things back but, then I would start to lose from our East coast.

I understand, no need to apologize for your series’s day and time, you do yours when best works for you. That’s what I’m doing too, the time works around the leagues I am already in and want to keep being a part of. And since most of the people I play with outside of this league are UK and a few EU countries I didn’t want to make it too late.

Hey guys I it looks like I might be able to host next Saturday July 27th after all. And I'm thinking of a 90 minutes race with Gr.4 class at the newly reintroduced Eiger Nordward. I was looking at something not difficult with this being only 2 days this big update. I haven't done anything with the Gr.4 class yet in GT7. Driving a track a lot is the best way to learn it. I haven't started on the details yet but, nobody can practice the track until my Birthday anyways. So I'll get to work. And post details as soon as possible.

With the details on the track I have available. I can't confirm from the few pictures if this track will still have a functional pit lane. So I came up 2 event format options in case.

7/27, Eiger Nordwand Summer Special

Basic Event Details

Eiger Nordwand Short Track Forward, 90 Minutes Race or x3 25 Minutes Segments w/ 10 minutes intermissions, Time of Day TBA, Time Change TBA, Night Driving TBA, Weather Change Custom, Rain TBA, Gr.4, BOP ?, Tuning Allowed, Tires Allowed TBA, Race Start Type Grid Start, Tires Required TBA, Tires x?, Fuel x?, Fuel At Start ?%, 15 Minutes GT Group Qualifying, Corner Penalties TBA, Wall Penalties TBA, Pit Line Penalty TBA, Contact Penalty TBA

Event Formats

Endurance Race Format: If the track has a pit this event will be a 90 minutes endurance race. There will the be the usual short break in between qualifying and race. The room will be reset to allow late arrivals to enter the race. Drivers who enter late after qualifying will start by order they entered the room behind all qualified entries.

Sprint Race Format: If the track does not have a functional pit. Since I'm 100% sure from the pictures there still is a pit. This event will be split into 3 separate 25 minutes races. With two 10 minutes intermissions which will act as non live pit stops. For this format the first race will start immediately after qualifying. Drivers who finished the previous race will retain their positions to start the next one. As long as they don't leave the room or change their cars. Those who change cars in between races, leave the room voluntarily or involuntarily, or enter after in-between races start the next race by order of room entry behind the drivers of the previous race.

Lobby Schedule

*Lobby Open / Practice Start
EDT / EST 7:00pm
PDT / EST 4:00pm

*Qualifying / Sprint Race Race 1 Start
EDT / EST 8:30pm
PDT / PST 5:30pm

*Endurance Race Start
EDT / EST 9:00pm
PDT / PST 6:00pm

Note: Eastern Standard / Daylight Savings Time is the advertised time.

Note: I may open early if I have nothing else better to do.

As promised here is my thread for the pony/muscle car races I’m hoping to do on some off Saturdays.

Hey guys I watched trailer yesterday the update. From what they have shown of Eiger Nordwand. It looks like they moved the pit lane into the tunnel. Whether or not it's functional is not shown.

I been working on the fuel and tires multipliers in case. I've settled on x4 for fuel. And then I've been reminded why I haven't done much with the Gr.4 class in GT7. The rather extreme difference between tire wear for best and worst cars. Particularly between RWD cars and FWD / 4WD. Finding a fair tire wear balance for the class is kind of Impossible. To get the FWD cars to be able to run complete at fuel run on hards. Some of the RWD cars can do it on softs. Even I restrict it to just one dry tire. The RWD cars can just skip tire changes.

Anyways another unknown variable is if Eiger Nordwand will still have weather change. The forward layout could have rain in GT6. This will effect wear or not I enforce tire requirements. I can confirm weather change will be active. Anyways I'll update what I can when I can. Hope to see many of you guys next Saturday.

Hey guys less than week until the lobby opens for the Eiger Nordwand Summer Special. As someone who likes to plan ahead and heavily test for their events. Not being able to drive track until at best 2 days before the event makes it challenge. It's been years since I last drove the Eiger Nordwand in GT5 or GT6. I'm having to use other tracks. That I hope may translate to Eiger Nordwand GT7. To take an educated guess on fuel and tire multipliers. However there is also suppose to be a tire psychics update which could change tire wear rates. Creating farther unknowns for this event. It's the lack of track time and unknowns for why choosing to extend practice to at least a 90 minutes session and pushing back qualifying and the race start about 30 minutes for this event.

The way my schedule is going to work this week. I won't have time Thursday or Friday for tire testing. I'll just have to take guess. Less than 1 hour until my birthday. See you guys Saturday on some mountain in Switzerland.
