Inspired by LoudMusics Terra Server Fun thread.. Thanks LM..

As some of you know, I have a slight obsession with Seattle - by far the coolest place I've been - EVER... And with that in mind, I decided to have a little fun with the Terraserver (if Microshaft monitors the usage, I've been reported to CIA by now - They'll be awaiting terrorist attacks in Seattle) while taking a few screenshots - well, it got a little out of hand :D - The picture in all it's glory is just below 4 megs and around 5000x7000 pixels - only time I've ever wished for more than a gig of RAM :dopey: The Picture is right here, 4 megs, don't blame your internet bill on me ;)

Green lines is where you race in the open,
Blue when you're under suspended roads, bridges,
Yellow is the pit area,
Orange points to where the screenshot is taken....

On with the list :

  1. Overlooking a small walkway that'll take you from the city to the seafront without hitting trafic.
  2. 2, 3 and 4 are diff. shots of a parking building called the "Sinking Ship" due to it's odd shape, and believe me, it looks like that in real life...
  3. Sinking Ship - another fine example of how elevated Seattle is..
  4. Sinking Ship - yet another fine example of how elevated Seattle is..
  5. Ready for that Downhill drop. Seattle is extremely elevated in real life as well.. (See 2, 3 and 4)
  6. Between the two massive office buildings, you can see Space Needle
  7. One of the access roads to the second level freeway.
  8. This is the OK Hotel - around the corner to the left is the front of the OK Cafe which was used as the coffee shop in the movie Singles.. The OK Hotel and Cafe are closed until further notice due to .. ehhrmm .. structural problems with the building..
  9. Pit Entry / exit, depending on yer general direction..
  10. Just an oddly shaped building after the 110 degree turn.
  11. Whoah - Like totally Tall office building ahead dude :dopey:
  12. Ready to go under the suspended highway.
  13. as 12, but looking out.
  14. Ye olde train station.
  15. Storage facility I suspect.
  16. Another oddly shaped building behind a parking lot.
  17. Same oddly shaped building as in 16, but from the other side.
  18. Small bridge.
  19. The now Demolished Kingdome from the back - You can see the onramp to the freeway in the front. If you look at the superimposed black and white of Kingdome, to the lower right, you can see that in 1990 they'd just started building that onramp...
  20. A sign that is no more :(
  21. Kingdome from the other side.
  22. Safeco Field - Home of the Seattle Mariners - They ROCK (not this year though :grumpy: )
  23. Another shot of Safeco Field..
  24. Back under the suspended highway..

I should also mention that the Kingdome and Safeco Field only co-existed during the building of Safeco Field. After the opening of SF the Dome was demolished - as you can see in the screenshots, SF isn't finished either as it has a brick outerwall and not just the metal structure....

I've always liked the Seattle circuit with it's tight turns, long straights and the long hill is great fun either up or down. It's also one of the most graphicaly interesting levels aswell. Top effort with the map, just hope you put as much effort into GT 👍

Thanks - and I try to, it's just that I suck at GT3 - just look in the WRS archive ;)

Dang, it won't let me see the picture, because it says it contains errors.

Wow......that's a awsome picture :0000 Judging from the quality of the screenshots, you use a TV Capture card?
Yeah - Som crappy Pinnacly TV Stereo thing. For the price it works quite well when used with Dscaler and manually forcing my Radeon to use AA on the picture..

What if you save the picture, can you open it with another program ?...

wow, that's pretty cool. I did the seattle enduro 15 times before I got the f 687. 10 of them in the escort.

Did you force it through Windows (i mean ATI drivers ) or through the capturing software?

Sorry for the off-topic

That's great. I live in Seattle so it's like my home track. I did my own little drive-through tour of the Seattle Track in a dead stock Subaru 360. Let me cross-promote it here.

WOW  Amazing picture there man.

Seattle II is my favorite track, I didn't realize it was closely based on real life streets like that. Makes me wonder how it will be rendered in GT4...probably amazingly.👍

hehe - Thanks...!... (I'm so glad this got revived ;) )

Anyway - Our Croatian contact, amar212 (is that 211 ?) said he doubts Seattle will be in GT4.. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but he's usually well informed...

That doesn't really make any sense not to include it when every track from the GT series is supposed to be included. I won't believe it until I see it missing with my own eyes. Keep your fingers crossed I guess.:scared:

I remember you sending this to me months ago Stef.

I thought you could've at least put some effort into drawing the lines.

My lines are c00l Jared - In fact - They're bloody excellent !...

I hope they put the original version of SS11 back in from GT1, the toned down version for GT3 without the wicked bus-stop chicane under the freeway just isn't the same!

How many times did you smash into the wall? I kept clipping the wall which would then throw me off the racing line and :banghead: straight into the wall. However it was a great place to catch or overtake the AI cars if driven proper cause they all slow down to get through clean. If it is included in GT4 I hope the AI are better cause they kept pushing me into the wall as well. Even when lapping them, used to make me .

Isn't the single offset the base of that diving left turn bad enough? No matter how I approach that freakin' turn, it's never half as fast as the AI get through it. Which means I lose big time if I'm behind them, or if I'm in front I get piledrivered into the jersey wall and stick there while they go merrily past. I hate that damn track.

At least that chicane made the races there alot more exciting. Will I go screaming to victory or smashing into a wall?

SS11 is my least favourite track from GT3. 20km/h hairpins everywhere, it's like racing in a parking lot. Combined with the not-too-smart AI it's annoying. With high hp cars it's insane. In championships I usually win the other races and skip SS11. Maybe with a slower car it could be fun, but I don't like it.

On the other hand Seattle is my fav. It's challenging, but not in the annoying way. Elevation changes, long straights, easy and sharp curves, chicanes are just in the good balance/ratio. I believed that it's a fantasy track, it's a big surprise that it's based on a real location. Thanks for the topic starter to post that great pic!

Great work!

I live in Seattle so this has always been one of my favorite tracks. That is a pretty comprehensive study of our fair city for someone who lives all the way in Denmark! Have you ever been out here?
