What would be some alternatives to look at?
You have a lot more choices today then I did 4 yr. ago. The only way to save money is the seat , I found a cockpit that could adapt to a car seat. Do the research that is the fun part of building a Sim rig

Part of my research was asking for suggestions.

I did look up what system you're using but it seems it may not easily be available here in the states.

Nice fitting and welding. Very cool, looks extremely rigid. :)

Thank you. That was the reason I built my own, I didn't want anything to flex. I probably went a,little overboard using 4130 chromoly tubing but its what I keep in stock.
I also wanted something relatively easy to get into and I didn't want a post between my legs. I think my next project will be adding a moniter directly to the rig along with the PS4 so its a self contained unit. I should really get the shifter too, I dont rally so I dont think a handbrake would be useful.

Nice job some thing to be proud of

Thank you:cheers:

That last bits of the shaker setup showed up yesterday, it’s much better now. It still makes more audible noise than I was expecting, but this is freaking awesome!! I can’t wait to play with it a bit tonight and get it dialled in properly. :)

Edit: The parts for my shifter showed up yesterday/today as well. I got the Ricmotech short shift kit and the 3Drap kit that makes it require more force to push/pull in and out of gear. It finally feels like a proper shifter now, or as close to one as I’m gonna get in a video game anyways. :)

You might remember this post on the blog just over a month ago, about a GTPlanet member who bought himself a GT Academy pod.

This kind of gave us an idea. Well, that and the fact I once built a 12-person LAN setup in my 17x7ft garage.

Has anyone else gone to some rather strange lengths to build themselves a little - or large - Gran Turismo mancave? It doesn't have to be quite as fancy as Julian's purpose-built pod, but anything that's a space in your house centred on Gran Turismo (or originally centred on GT - some may have adapted to include other games by now).

If you think you qualify, or think you know someone who does, respond below or fire anyone on the editorial team a Conversation message.

I hope the pics are here. This is an old school desk with 30 pounds of weights added and a brace across the back to prohibit pedal movement. A card table chair is used with a blanket to soften the seat. I use a T150 set up and a Sony 4k 65 inch TV. I am 75 years old and a recipient of the PS4PRO and wheel/pedals as a 75th birthday present from my 4 kids!

Agreed, it was a great addition and feels great! Unfortunately the Ricmotech short shift plate didn’t work on PS4, without being able to calibrate it, it wouldn’t read 5th gear and just throws the car back into 3rd when installed, so it’s a PC use only mod I guess.

Can anyone confirm if the TM TH8A shifter comes from the factory with the USB adapter in the box? I’m not at home to check my box right now. Thanks very much!

How much FOV do you get is it on one monitor or shared with the other two

With GT Sport it will only run on a single monitor as far as I know. But with iRacing I can spread it over all 3 screens and have the side screens adapt/account for the angle they are on and correct the picture. I think I was getting around 155* of horizontal FoV for iRacing once I got it set up how I wanted.

You have a nice set for now and the future

Sony should think about a Sim specific PS console option. I'm sure there's a large enough market for players who use the console primarily for GT.

And as nice as the PS4 and PS5 are, some would prefer a smaller profile to match their environment.

I mocked up something simple, obviously it can look better. Just to show basic functions.

I have 1 game for my PS4 Pro, GTS

You might want to move it away from the baseboard heaters ? 💡 I'm sure in the middle of February it could get a little hot back there.:gtpflag:

They’re only hot water baseboards, they don’t really get all that hot, but good point none the less. But I’m hoping to be back in the den by winter, it’s currently my wife’s work from home office though.

I ordered one of these for 40 bucks. Put ice cubes or cold water in it and goes for few hours. My rig is gonna have air con this summer. :D

Reminds me of the days I put ice cubes next to the cooling inlet of my severely overclocked PC to stay in the top 100 of Seti@home
