Sick's Race Room - great racing with a classic flavour - now on Project cars 2PS4

Anything is possible Skip and I wouldn't rule anything out. Which game people prefer depends on what is important to them. I expect GTS to have better visuals, better replays, better photo mode, less bugs, better hand controller support, more polish and generally a more complete and polished feel - also probably better online options for hosts with things like reverse grid and other options which make holding short races easier, together with greater popularity so easier to find a casual race. However at the moment it looks like most of the important (to me) cards are in the deck of Project Cars 2 - dynamic time and weather, real track 3, better sounds, more cars, accurate car classes, historic cars, rally cross, more tracks.
Oh well, time will tell...Will probably end up buying both anyway!!

I spy a simba and a pim on gts ;)

Yes - plus some of our previous GT6 racers like Manasseh - so we shouldn't be short of driving impressions. I've watched some recording of gameplay by Flaco and others and noticed that the sounds seem better than GT6 (but still some room for improvement) and the interiors are still too dark - like many were on GT6.

On Sunday I went to the "All Ford Show" with Mook - unsurprisingly it's a show for Ford cars and Ford powered cars. I'll be posting up a few pictures that Mook took - unfortunately he missed the Ford Anglia's, but he did get these shots:

Below Mark 1 escorts - top the first performance Escort the short lived 8 valve Lotus engined "Twin Cam". Bottom this was soon superseded by the 16 valve DOHC BDA engined RS1600. Below that in yellow the OHV 1600 Escort Mexico was relatively affordable and offered more than enough performanceto scare passengers on the road.

Above the car that started it all - Ford Cortina Lotus - sports car handling and a powerful twin cam engine in a lightweight body - it could lap British circuits as fast as a Mark Two 3.8 Jaguar saloon.

Below - the beautiful early Ford Capri - not the version for which the admen coined the phrase "The car you always promised yourself" - the version prior to the Mark One!

Part two tomorrow!

Great pics.:D

I was watching, some of a video on YouTube, by Team VVV.

Some of the points they raised, were some cars, didn't have interior still. One the tracks being dull, on the beta. Pop-up trees, sound, still not great. But the main concern, in the direction in PD, have taken, with esports, no career mode. How would people be ranked, people of their own ability or against aliens.

Will they race against, crashers, just be put off complacently.

Land yachts is the right description! Back in 1973, during the massive gas shortage here in USA, I foolishly saw my opportunity to buy a 1969 Lincoln Continental Mark lll..Yellow with black vinyl roof with opera rear windows!!!! It was a beauty, but oh my, it felt like driving the Queen Mary around a corner! It had a massive 460 CI block with 365 BHP and about a million FT LBS of torque...But due to its 5,000 lbs of weight took about a year to accelerate to 60! From 60 up to 120 was pretty exciting though! Got a lot of laughs from my friends to have a 23 year old kid driving a car like that!!! Ahhh....Those blissfully stupid youthful days!

A further note on these huge cars we used to build: since they were also the only size cars available to NASCAR to run back then, they had a heck of a time getting ready to handle the few road course races run back then. I remember well going to the old Riverside Raceway outside of L.A. to watch them run...You should have seen these monsters trying to negotiate the S turns and chicanes on that track!!! Must have been one heck of a challenge for the drivers...Then they would hit almost 200 mph down the main straight (1.1 mile), then have to brake that super heavy car into a 30 mph 180 hairpin...No aero braking, no disc brakes, no radials (old bias ply tires)!!!

Great posts Skip - you are lucky to have seen them race at Riverside. I'll respond in more detail about Riverside later after posting up part two of the car show pictures.

Below two of the fastest cars at the show - GT40 replica. The small front winglets were fitted to combat front lift which was a real problem with the earliest models (first time at Le Mans they all crashed in practise due to aero instability).

Above supercharged custom T bucket - didn't look at all suited to the narrow, winding country roads of the UK!

Below - Mustangs - we were given the Fastback in Project cars, but the saloon is the one with the racing history and should be in the game (Alan Mann Mustang BSCC champion 1965 driven by Roy Pierpoint).

Thank you Sick...I hadn't realized there were that many American Ford products in the UK! As always, great pics!
My favorite memory at RIR was the 1968 Rex Mays 300, which if I recall correctly was one of those wonderful races back in the day where you had both Indy and F1 cars and stars competing...Dan Gurney won (his home track) but the really interesting story was the two Lotus gas turbine cars prepared by Andy Granatelli (STP) were there. I still have a memory of the aircraft like whistle/whine of them screaming down the main straight...they were immensely fast, but very unreliable. Neither won that day, but I recall the spectacle they put on. Still have some 8mm film footage on that event somewhere in my old stuff...
Also, Stirling Moss won the only official F1 race held there in 1960...Wish I would have been old enough at that time to have seen that one!!
As so often happens in California, progress won out and the track was demolished in 1989 or thereabouts. Now it is housing tracks and a mall....Yuk!

Unfortunately Longspread was proved right - the Classic Silverstone layout is not viable for online racing. During Round 1 of the Lotus Type 51 (Formula Ford) Championship we had to switch to Silverstone International half way through the meeting and run an abbreviated programme.

I have checked the calendars for 2017 and we are not due to visit Silverstone Classic again. It won't be put into the 2018 calendar until I am certain that it is bug free - hopefully Project Cars 2 will have fixed those bugs and will be out by that time.

@buybon355 is the very smart looking gentleman in your profile picture you? If so, that is one impressive man cave - more like a "Man Cavern"

Oh, i didnt see this post until now..but i wish my predictions was wrong (its not often i wish that;-)

I also wish i dont have to withdraw from the monday races from now on, but a change in work schedule makes it difficult to make it home in time on mondays. My participation can be intermittent at best.

Wednesdays are still ok for me though!

Congratulations Champion Simbalora !!!

Get in the mood for our new Monday Historic Saloon Series by watching this epic race from the 73rd Goodwood Members Meeting! An incredible battle between the Austin A40 and Jaguar Mark One with a supporting cast of Ford Zephyrs, the gargantuan Jaguar Mark Seven and the comical Nash Metropolitan.

Had to perform a factory reset on my ps4 after tripping over my cables, ripping plugs out the wall and dropping the system on the floor. It was stuck in some weird safe mode loop that I couldn't get out of without the dreaded factory reset. I've spent the rest of the day reinstalling all my games and DLC which thankfully I don't need to buy again.

I had just downloaded Assetto Corsa, which is pretty good. Apparently there's a new feature which allows lobbies to be created. Haven't spent much time on the game as yet but initial impressions are very positive. Need to get some laps in though.

I hope everything is ok with your system now Buybon. I'll be interested to hear your impressions of Assetto Corsa!

Above - this strong man can fix your F1 car (his company: Forza Historic racing has no connection with the Forza game).

Above that - Brian Johnson (lead singer of rock band AC/DC) had just had a slight off in his Mini which he was explaining in colourful language. Above that - Michael Lyons - one of the fastest drivers in Historic Racing - and one of the nicest - he was kind enough to chat and pose for pictures. Despite looking so young he has an unbelievable racing CV and has raced and won in virtually every category of Historics including F1, F5000, Formula Ford, Group C etc, etc - sign him up as a test driver @IanBell please! He would be able to give detailed feedback on virtually any type of Historic car!

I had an incredible day - popped up to Brands in the morning with my X-Box racing friend Gianni and saw some incredible cars - more images over the next few days! Can't wait for the actual racing on Sunday!

Wow Brain Johnson did you ever see his, program cars that rock?

Yes - really enjoyed it, but when I met him I didn't mention music or his TV work - a lovely guy and true car nut!

Below some more images from Friday:

Top Lola T70 waiting to be unleashed - they sound like thunder!

Above driver explained the TVR Griffith 400 recipe for excitement - take a super lightweight frame and body, add Triumph Spitfire front uprights with Ford Consul discs and MGB rear drums, fit crossply tyres with period tread pattern, tune your V8 Ford to 500bhp and hold on tight!

Yes I don't think, our international racers, will be able to understand him.

We could do with support vehicle, for World Super Bikes, to many red flags at Imola.

Nürburgring 24h

Well, I did a lot of drinking, but unfortunately not a lot of Pictures. I only had my phone at Hand, maybe Simba used his camera to capture some more.

It was fun, the hottest Weekend since 17 years or something like that, it was pretty hot and dry, which is very unusual for the Eifel region.

Why don't you lot take a camper, or just a tent, and get over the channel (or wherever you come from) to experience this amazing week around the 24 hours Race next year, 2018?

To the Pictures below:

1. We drove up there with a 1982 Hymer Motorhome, based on Mercedes. It has a 2.4L 4cyl. PETROL(!) engine which was running good but lacked power.

2. made it up to the 'Ring and settled down for a week

3. Friday evening, after race related Events have come to a halt, People can go ON the track! But me and friends went there wednesday already, so I could make this shot without any other People around

4. 1st bonfire, although there wasn't much need for it, it was so hot.

5. At the fence to enjoy watching some racing, shots must be from early 1st Qualifying, I guess. I didn't take any Pictures from the Classics this time :(

6/7. A Little inside look into the Manta, she has the best 4cyl. engine mankind has ever produced! Two Calibras where running in the 24hrs race, which have the same engine, of course.

8. Watching the start from the Müllenbach Schleife, GP Track, got sunburned badly...

9. Holden Maloo's aren't exactly the most common car to see in mainland Europe... so for me, it's very exciting when I get a Chance to spot one.

10. Bonfire right by the fence (FIA fence-safety stuff :( ) and staying awake as Long as possible throughout the night of the main race. Made it to after dawn, fell into the tent sometime at 4 or 5... woke up at 8! :D

11. saying goodbye to the Nurburgring while everyone was dismantling their camping sites on Sunday evening after the race, the worst part of the whole week, but you are cheered up by the positive thoughts of "coming back next year!" 👍

To get a taste of the Classics Race (3hour race) here's a Video of the livestream, but it's german:

Great photos and write up @Flaco13 - sounds and looks tempting. Hopefully @AndreasR can add some pictures. Nordschleife is a long way for us to come - maybe one day!

I took these shots on Friday: I was lucky enough to still be at Brands when the Shelby King Cobra (one of 6 made)arrived late. It's 4.7 litre V8 sounded incredible while being warmed up.

Below that - an even rarer car - the "Nickey Chevrolet" with 5.3 litre V8 was a period competitor.

Third slide down - the "Zerex Special" was a very successful series of cars - this is chassis number 12.

Above engine bay of Lola T70 MK3B showing 5.0 litre Chevrolet V8. One of these cars came second in the race on Sunday - following a rain storm the cars started with about 5 laps behind the safety car which gave the drivers a chance to get used to a wet, but gradually drying track.

Above McLaren M1B's - one used by the famous ex-F1 driver and 1965 Le Mans winner Masten Gregory. It was a great privilege to get to see these famous cars up close and then watch them racing on Sunday.
