Even though we didn’t have a big turnout last night, most of the time someone always had another racer around them … so the racing was pretty fun. Looking forward to seeing you on track. Cheers

I have been asked to work out of town next week, Monday to Wednesday, traveling up on Sunday afternoon, so I will not be able to race next Sunday.

@Kgffy Just to inform you, your vote for Combo 3 was invalid because you need to have raced in the combo on Sunday night to vote for it. Stated in the SNAIL OLR under "Prizes."

I am in the process of fixing the brake issue of my G29. The brake comes on randomly. So if you don't see me in D1 for Sunday then it because my rig is not ready.

Suggest any ideas if you like. I have tried the pot replacement (digikey P/N: 450D103F7). This will only work if the game allows brake calibration. I am considering the TRUEBRAKE approach also, but still checking reviews.

Wish me luck, and see ya asap.

Are you using the TrueBrake? Just so you know, I just ordered this with the 60% spring. 60% was said to be like the stock pedels. I hope it arrives soon.

Lex, I have Fanatec V3 pedals, I just thought that this seemed a good fix for your G29 pedals.

The brake activating without pedal input is most often debris(dust, etc) in the potentiometer causing an effective shorting and corresponding activation. If it is that, a blast with a quick dry electrical cleaner followed by some canned air usually cleans it up.

The other cause can be the potentiometer cap coming loose from the base, causing the clocking to be incorrect. It is only crimped in place, so it can happen over time or with hard pedal inputs. This can be remedied by removing the potentiometer, realigning the cap and pressing the crimp "arms" back into the little recesses in the base that locate them. There are likely a bunch of videos online about all this by now.

Might be worth a try.

Most of you know I have been sim racing awhile. But I'm cheap so G29 has to be it. I have virtually gutted my pedals a bunch. I am a tech by trade. However, thanks for the information. This issue will be put to rest as soon as you see me racing again. The new potentiameter will be enclosed and protected from our DIRTY world.

Same, I use a G29 clamped to a board that is attached to a desk drawer with a furniture clamp. Old wooden desk, same I've used for almost 15 years. I had kept spare potentiometers when I ran a G25 but so far haven't had issues with the G29. It also hasn't seen much use so not much opportunity to fail.

They're pretty simple devices so yeah if you'd had it apart and inspected and found nothing apparent I don't have much else. Good luck with it.

To whom ever is host, I am not sure it is a good time to start racing here with a DS3/controller. I tried a little practice with it but to many mistakes at D1 speed. Wheel is scheduled to be back next Sunday. See ya then. Good luck and be fast.

BTW, does anyone use the CSL elite? How many issues have ya had with one?

Good luck with getting the wheel back together soon. FYI - if I was racing with a DS3, I’m pretty sure I could NOT keep up with anyone in D3/D4. I haven’t picked up a controller in over 10 years.

You may have noticed I made it back. The new brake fix is done. If you are using a G29 and have a need for better braking experience, try the mod I did. The TRUE BRAKE 2.1 is a linear potentiameter that feels like a load cell brake. I give it 2 thumbs up and the price is very reasonable ($90 tax and shipping).

Not sure I’ll be back in time to race tonight. Definitely not for the start. I hope to make the later combos. Good luck tonight boys!
