FYI I am away for the weekend and my flight doesn't land until 45 minutes before lobby opening so I may be late to the show. Backup score keeper?

Thank you. Once I figure all this stuff out I wouldn't mind helping with some of the duties. Shoot me some instructions on how to do whatever you need done the most. I'll try my best to make it every Sunday but work might prevent me from being there sometimes.

The easiest duty to get your feet wet first is Texter. This duty requires one to greet and inform 'randoms' who enter the lobby that it is an official league event and politely ask them to leave. There are many ways to state this and each texter has their own style, but a sample text is something along these lines: "Hello, this is a private race league event, if you would like to join, please visit gtplanet.net/snail for information on how to join. In the meantime, please exit lobby. Thank you."

This may seem like a lot to type out every time, and it is. However, you only have to type it out once, then select the 3-dots at the bottom of the on-screen keyboard. This brings up the Copy/Paste menu allowing you to copy the text. Then you only have to paste this text each time you need it.

Just made one up with Xrad's help. I'm in the lobbies practicing if anybody wants to join.

On Sunday I noticed considerable lag. When I joined the second lobby I noticed @radliffracing room only had 2 bars. When I was viewing replays for my photo post I also notice a lot of jitter in the cars. Radliff, are you using a wifi connection, or are you hard wired? I also notice that Rad is in Florida and I'm in Vancouver, BC. Coincidence? I think not. 😁 :cheers:

I was using a hardwired connection this past Sunday and I had done Oshawa Joe's procedure for the modem and router. I ended up with lower download (8mbps) and upload (2mbps) speed afterwards unfortunately and the Bills game was coming on so my wife was attiment about me not unplugging the internet again. I did the procedure again the next day and my speeds came back to normal. (80 mbps down and 8 mbps up). We have spectrum 1000 mbps service but I've come to realize our router is the weakest link. It has a 10/100 ethernet port and I believe that is restricting me with speeds when hardwired as I don't see any improvent over wifi even with the cat8 cable I just tried out today. On top of that my ps4 literally just went out. It keeps telling me the game is corrupt and to delete and reinstall which I have done earlier today and got the message again a few minutes ago. Now the ps4 won't even start lol. I'm working on a fix for everything. Ps5 and new router possibly. $$$
It's not looking good for me tomorrow night but I'll try to get things sorted one way or another. Who wants to be the host and the texter if I'm not able to?

Update. I replaced the stock 1TB Seagate HDD with a 1TB Samsung SSD in my Ps4. I am back up and running but still in the process of installing the GT7 updates. 108 GB worth... my internet speeds ought to be the same as before (80 mbps down and 8 mbps up) but my read/write speeds are better. Anyways I may or may not be done with the update in time so still gonna need that backup host and texter tonight just in case.

@radliffracing By the looks of things you have 1GB service and your PS4 is not getting anywhere near that rate. I had to upgrade my router and cabling a little over a month ago after Spectrum upgraded our service from 100/10 to 300/300. Already on my second modem since all the upgrades were done. I replaced the Linksys EA3400 with one of these;

Replaced the cables from the modem to router, PS5 and PC to router.

PS5 still not getting upload rates anywhere near the download rate, last test I did from it showed 450+Mbps down and only 20Mbps up. PC just now tested out with these results;

When the tech came out to troubleshoot and replace my modem a couple weeks ago he did admit that Spectrum still needs to tweak some equipment to get the full upload rates they've been advertising/charging me for. I have not been able to figure out why my PS will not get anything over 25Mbps upload.

You could definitely improve your online experience, PS4 or 5, with a new router and Cat5e, 6 or 8 cabling.

I have read that the Playstation network throttles speeds and you might be able to subvert that by setting up a proxy network. I'm a truck driver, not and internet technician, so this is all a learning process for me lol. Change out a transmission or a turbo out and I'm your guy. Internet and speeds.. new to me. Used to be if it worked it worked, wasn't an issue until I joined the league and started hosting. While at Best Buy today, I talked to the ppl there and they recommended the Eeros wifi mesh system. I'm in a unique situation as I piggy back my internet from my father's house at the front of the property to my house, at the rear of it. I have about 300 feet of cat 6 buried underground in pvc pipe feeding off of his router. He upgraded to 1000 mbps service, the week after i joined, and bought a 20 dollar router at the same time. It's his router I know is restricting me and I'll buy him a better one just to get my service up, my Ps4 bricking out on me kind of took precedent this week. If anybody else wants to take over as host, I'm fine with that. I'll gladly take over another duty until I can get things situated over here. I will definitely check out the router you recommended, thank you for the help @Dragonwhisky. Are you on coaxial into your modem or do you have fiber (ethernet cable I guess?) going into it?

Coax to modem, ethernet out to router. If you can swap trannys and turbos and things in automobiles you can figure this out too. Same principles involved, just different kinds of parts.

I've seen PS test screens from others that indicate PSN does not throttle, at least from those locations.

Definitely can, just not there yet. I operate under the "nothing I can't do" motto

Well, just looked it up and you are near the limit of Cat6 carrying 1GB without a repeater.
I read that too. Also read that ethernet cable has a lifespan of 5 or 6 years outside in the elements. Mine has been underground and protected by pvc but has been there almost 10 years. We'll start with a new router up front and work our way back from there. I'll look into the repeaters too, don't know much about them yet. Thank you for all your help and advice, it is much appreciated. Mac1032763 says he will give hosting a shot tonight if I'm not up and running and no one else is able to.

You may want to consider, for that 300' run, getting shielded Cat8. It'll be expensive, comparatively speaking, but probably well worth it for longevity.

Sorry fellas I'm not going to make it tonight. Been sick all this week and I'm starting to feel better but not quite feeling up to racing. It's 530 here and I'm already fighting sleep. Gl tonight!
