Never thought it would happen to me, but here's the short story (long one gets released in my universe-wide Autobiography next century - stay tuned!).

Mid 90's
1. Die hard Sega fan - Sony and thier crappy PlayStation were never gonna be liked by me, theres no way they could compete with the awesome Saturn!

2. Mum bought a PlayStation for us because after she rented one we discovered that theres a lot more games for it - and games for the Saturn are coming out less. Much to my utter disgust. 👎

Late 90's
1. Die hard Sony fan - Sega is dead, how could they ever compete with the all-conquering PlayStation!

2. Discovered Gran Turismo 2 (only played the first when my neighbour needed help getting past races).

3. Discovered an interesting car called the 'Nissan Skyline' (thats NISS-an, not NEE-SAN, thank you Americans ;)). Fell in love with it.

Early 2000's
1. Joined New Zealand based Skyline club, Skylines Downunder (.com) which was the only one around at the time - on my side of the world anyway.

2. Dad bought an R32 Skyline GTS-4, forgetting that i liked them at first.

3. Went to first Skyline meet in Dunedin with Dad - over eight or so Skylines, well organised run and great people. Me and Dad were hooked.

Mid 2000's
1. Bought Skyline off Dad before he moved to America (he's in Gillette, Wyoming at the mo - longs to see any sign of a tree ;))

2. We broke away from Skylines Downunder (SDU) and formed Southern Skyline Enthusiasts (SSE). Lot of advertising, regular meet organising and so on by me grew the Dunedin section of the club.

3. New girl joined up in early 2007 after she'd just bought an R32 GTS Skyline. In her intro topic one of the guys said 'Don't hump the new girl Andrew'.

4. A year and a month later after we decided we liked each other we officially became girlfriend/boyfriend...

2010
1. After two and a bit years i popped the question last Saturday to which she (naturally :p) said yes. I mean, who wouldn't. :sly:

So thanks to Sony, Gran Turismo and the Nissan Skyline, i met my dream girl. 👍 Screw you Sega, you coulda stuffed it all up for me! :nervous:

I'd also like to thank Jordan, for i wouldn't be the 18th registered member here (i gotta stop bragging about that, but i won't :dopey:) and be able to post this topic if it weren't for him. 👍 :) :D

Congrats man, that's huge! 👍

Now crack open the beers and celebrate like any self-respecting Kiwi man would... :D

Nice one matey!

👍

I assume we're all invited, which means I'll have to buy a new hat!
:sly:

Best engagement story evar! (It involves meeting via cars, how is it not the best?). Congrats man, have one on the house.

I love the damming of SEGA in that story

Hope you guys are really happy together 👍

Congrats men.
Best story (cars, racing games, and girl(s))
Wishing you both a bright skyline futur

Congrats. Wheres the pic of the bride to be?! If you're having any second doubts, send her my way and I'll test her out for ya and let ya know how the ride is.

congrats, makes such a nice change when a girl is interested in cars and and actually likes the bloke instead of being bored talking about cars and thinking the bloke is a complete bore!

nice one!

Have you guys got any plans for the wedding yet? Perhaps a car themed one?:sly:

Congratulations and great story :)👍

Enjoy the wedding and don't forget it's your day too ;)

Congratulations!

By the Order of the Red Badge, thy shall be institutionalized!

That story is too awesome for me to give my usual joke condolences.

Congratulations.

And you're winning her skyline as a consolation prize for ruining your life.

Just kidding, sincerely congrats!

Of course we're waiting for the day that she'll become a GTP'er! :D

Is the wedding cake going to look like a Skyline? 💡

If you go with a Skyline cake, don't send serial killers to get it or you will end up with a Lancer cake.

Congrats.👍(and sorry for your loss)

congrats

I assume we're all invited, which means I'll have to buy a new hat!

Congrats. Wheres the pic of the bride to be?! If you're having any second doubts, send her my way and I'll test her out for ya and let ya know how the ride is.

And this is her on her Ninja ZX600 RR at Levels Raceway, Timaru, NZ. Gets it up to 225 km/h on the back straight.

nice one!
Agreed! She really is one in a million, definately not a girly girl (hates wearing skirts etc). Loves gaming (war and driving games especially) too and pretty much everything else i like. 👍

Have you guys got any plans for the wedding yet? Perhaps a car themed one?:sly:
Gonna be random/not traditional as we want people to remember it for milleniums to come. ;) She wanted to arrive on a horse and carriage, but no-one does that here. And might borrow a few Skylines or Stageas from the club and use them as the wedding cars. Kinda want some of our members' GT-R's, but won't be enough room in them. :(

Of course we're waiting for the day that she'll become a GTP'er! :D
Why wait? She's been on here since March 3rd 2008. :)

so....

Or a cow. She loves cows. Seriously though, no idea yet so long as it doesn't cost the earth.

Now this Skyline of yours, the steering wheel is on the right side where it should be, yes? Got any pics to share?

Jerome
Yup.
Right here. :)

Congrads man. Now you are onto the fun part which is planning the wedding. Honestly I know you didn't ask for advice, but the best piece of advice is not to take anyone outside advice when planning the wedding.

1. Still a die hard Sega fan - The Saturn was easily my favorite system of the last console war, but then Dreamcast came along. Sony and PS2, even with GT, could never top the last true platform for the hardcore!

Fixed. :sly:

Haha, congratulations man!
