Never thought it would happen to me, but here's the short story (long one gets released in my universe-wide Autobiography next century - stay tuned!).
Mid 90's
1. Die hard Sega fan - Sony and thier crappy PlayStation were never gonna be liked by me, theres no way they could compete with the awesome Saturn!
2. Mum bought a PlayStation for us because after she rented one we discovered that theres a lot more games for it - and games for the Saturn are coming out less. Much to my utter disgust. 👎
Late 90's
1. Die hard Sony fan - Sega is dead, how could they ever compete with the all-conquering PlayStation!
2. Discovered Gran Turismo 2 (only played the first when my neighbour needed help getting past races).
3. Discovered an interesting car called the 'Nissan Skyline' (thats NISS-an, not NEE-SAN, thank you Americans
). Fell in love with it.
Early 2000's
1. Joined New Zealand based Skyline club, Skylines Downunder (.com) which was the only one around at the time - on my side of the world anyway.
2. Dad bought an R32 Skyline GTS-4, forgetting that i liked them at first.
3. Went to first Skyline meet in Dunedin with Dad - over eight or so Skylines, well organised run and great people. Me and Dad were hooked.
Mid 2000's
1. Bought Skyline off Dad before he moved to America (he's in Gillette, Wyoming at the mo - longs to see any sign of a tree
)
2. We broke away from Skylines Downunder (SDU) and formed Southern Skyline Enthusiasts (SSE). Lot of advertising, regular meet organising and so on by me grew the Dunedin section of the club.
3. New girl joined up in early 2007 after she'd just bought an R32 GTS Skyline. In her intro topic one of the guys said 'Don't hump the new girl Andrew'.
4. A year and a month later after we decided we liked each other we officially became girlfriend/boyfriend...
2010
1. After two and a bit years i popped the question last Saturday to which she (naturally
) said yes. I mean, who wouldn't.
So thanks to Sony, Gran Turismo and the Nissan Skyline, i met my dream girl. 👍 Screw you Sega, you coulda stuffed it all up for me!
I'd also like to thank Jordan, for i wouldn't be the 18th registered member here (i gotta stop bragging about that, but i won't
) and be able to post this topic if it weren't for him. 👍
