sound systems

hey. just wonderin to see what kind of systems you use for your gaming and/or home theatre.
for now, i have a 5.1 setup. monster cable front channels and a monster cable center. with 2 sonys as my rear with a monster cable/centra sub woofer (250 watts). all ran with monster cable wires and speaker cable. system pushes out about 750 watts. in the future when my room is finished i hope to move to a klipsche/ pioneer 7.1 setup

My home setup consists of a fake 5.1 surround system that I got for $100 a while back. It is not Dolby and not digital, so I assume it just routes some of the sound to the back speakers pretty much incoherently. It is loud, though, and is my preferred racing setup.

My "mobile" setup is a set of computer speakers that actually came free with my original Logitech Wheel for GT3. I never used them until I went away to college, but then they became my main speakers for both the computer and the PS2, through the use of a Y-cable. It has a disproportionately loud subwoofer, and for tiny/free speakers, they are damn good.

5.1 System: Energy Take 5 speakers plus twin Energy 10" subwoofers
Sony STR-DB830 Audio Receiver
(and Toshiba 50" widescreen projection TV)
Monster wires connecting everything!

I use my Dolby Digital Kenwood reciever, running into some cheap KLH front speakers, and sub, with some yamaha rear surrounds, works great for movies, but sucks that GT4 is only Pro Logic 2, my i can only get stereo sound from the game with my optical cable

My television has a speaker built right into its durable outer casing!

I could have paid an extra $80 and gotten a T.V with two speakers but I decided that was overkill and I went with the 'mono' set.

Tomorrow I will be the proud owner of a set of Logitech Z-5500 5.1 surround speakers and I will use them for PS2/PC. 👍

me too! , but i have two speakers :dopey:

ya i got two 12's with mids and tweets in cabinets pushed by plenty power.....i rattle the walls and can get a noise complaint any time of the day from the nice tennants. i love a loud exhaust driven intense races. all my wires are from radioshack and i got all my stereo components from a thrift store for about 40-50$ and had to replace a fuse in the reciever and it's been bad to the bone ever since

i have a Pioneer Home theather system with 4 speakers in 4 corners, 2 6in subs behind the entertainment center and 2 8 inch subs under the couch. With 380 watts of power and no neighbors GT4 can be really fun..

most of all it was all free

I've got a Logitech z560 system, but the 8 inch driver died out on me so i took the cabinet apart, extended the speaker wire from the sub cabinet and connected a 15 inch mtx subwoofer in a tube to the amp. Definatly overkill on the bass...but i love big bass so it doesnt bother me to much..

I have a yamaha AX1 av amplifier (weight = 28kg) running 6 kep uniq egg speakers all running 100watts rms (one centre, one rear centre, two rear surrounds and two front surrounds) and the kef 250watts rms sub wich came with the package and 2 mordant short ms609 floor standers as the main front speakers and qed reference speaker wire, err its quite loud!! and a toshiba 48inch rear projection monitor.

Glad my dad is a home cinema nut and i cant wait untill he gets all the new stuff hes ordering as then i can err "aquire" all his old

I've go mine linked to a Sony DAVS300 (5.1 home cinema system). I can't say I've been that impressed, in fact I often just run it through the stereo TV speakers.

Yamaha A1 (retired to the front room when I got a new receiver a while back). Jamo Centre 200, Jamo mains and Mission rears. No sub, but the speakers seem to be enough for games.

Imagine GT4 where the AI cars are real size perspectives, 7.1 audio, with the force feedback Pro. Oh my. It's almost scary, and it adds a whole new intensity to the game. :)

Pioneer 5.1 receiver feeding Paradigm speakers all around, Monitor 11's on the main channels. Optical connection from PS2, and not a single Mon$ter cable in the whole system! :D

Clicky

The Minidisc deck listed in the Study set is gone, and there's a Denon TU-260L tuner in the study, but that's scheduled for the chop too. I'm buying a Roku Soundbridge soon.

And since we're listing cables... The living room system uses QED SCART and Digital Coax interconnects, with Cambridge Atlantic stereo phonos from the Analog Stereo output on the DVD player. IXOS stereo phonos from the TV to the amp. The cables in the study are all IXOS.

Pako
Nice, what Paradigm's are you running?

Fronts are Monitor11 v2's, a CC270 in the middle, a pair of Mini Monitors out back, and a PS1200 for the boom. They're all a few years old, but they work real nice together. 👍

Look what I moved into the room!

Oh yes, it sounds lovely.

I've got Bowers & Wilkins speakers for my home theater.

Center Channel: LCR600 S3
L/R: DMR601 S3
Subwoofer: ASW650
Rear Channels: WM4

All black, and hooked up to an Integra DTR-5.5 receiver and Sony Qualia 006 TV . They are great speakers...but I still think I'd take Pako's setup any day!

B&W?! OH MY GOD. Jordan, I hate you. I hate Pako too, but that was beforehand.

At least you don't have a room full of Nautili. I'd have to make you my nemesis. 20k each, whew. :nervous:

Heh, yeah these speakers are the bomb. The center channel and sub are the real stars of the show - it produces so much bass I feel like I need to measure it to make sure it's only 12 inches! I can't wait until everything is in HD and full 5.1 all the time. Oh!!!

My dad got some JBL speakers (6 of them)
1xsub
2xtowers
Center
2xRears
50 inch pioneer tv
But they haven't been installed yet :indiff:
I'll try to post a pic of one of the towers. They look so cool.
