But GT7 is supposed to be getting rid of the "Group" classification system. That said the old Oreca Viper (Which I imagine is much more likely to come back only in Dodge form and not the Chrysler branded one) would fit pretty well into Group 3. Wouldn't be any more out of place than the short tail McLaren F1 GTR (Which is confirmed to come back; I'm sure the Longtail will too) or the Ford GT LM Spec II, even though that's not a real car.

Also, while we're at it, I want this car back:
Chaparral_2J_Race_Car_%2770.jpg

Long before the Red Bull X series, there was this thing.
2J confirmed!

Been a while since I've put one of these together. I've only included what I think has anywhere from a vague to a solid chance of making it in at some point down the line. My criteria is based on significance both to the automotive industry, and the GT series itself, while also adding some quirky picks because it wouldn't be a GT game without a few oddballs right? Considering that GT7 is leaning a bit on nostalgia I've also included some cars that haven't been seen since the early PS1 titles.

Well known for their racing and street mods but I think GT said this is the only original car they ever built. Along with the Tommy Kaira ZZ-S Coupe and Tommy Kaira ZZ-II it was one of my 3 favorite cars to drive.

I'll admit I'm very biased towards the PS2-era games, as I started with GT3, so I'll go from there if that's OK. These aren't in any particular order of preference, either, as I'd like to have all these cars added as premium models at some point.

My top picks for road cars:
1. Nissan Skyline GT-R (C110)
2. Aston Martin Vanquish (First-generation)
3. Nissan Fairlady 240ZG (HS30)
4. Jaguar XJ220
5. Lexus SC430

Top picks for race cars:
1. BMW M3 (E46) GTR Race Car
2. Toyota GT-One (TS020)
3. Nissan R390 GT1 Race Car
4. Honda NSX GT500 (JGTC)
5. Mercedes-Benz 190E Evo II Race Car

Top picks for concept cars:
1. Nike One
2. Toyota MTRC
3. Dome Zero
4. Suzuki GSX-R/4
5. Volkswagen W12 Nardo

Of course, I could go on about some other brands I'd really want to see return, like Jay Leno and Lotus, but I admit this set of lists was mostly based on a whim.

Your shift key seemed to get an upgrade to Premium after this lot. Make it permanent, please.

Already in GT Sport...
Toyota MR2
Which one? There's already one in GT Sport.
Ford GT40
Which one? There's already one in GT Sport.
Which one? There's already three of them in GT Sport.

Can you at least try to make sure your lists are appropriate (and preferably not just lists of cars)? It's pretty much the minimum standard.

I'd pay $300 for the game if the entire suite of cars from GT2 made a return. Like, everything. I want to drive a 100hp Civic.

Tvr cerberra 4.2

It was the car that got me into tuning the car. Midfield raceway, tweaking the suspension, making sure the gear ratios were perfectly set-up for maximum top speed.

The Cerberra speed 6 was in gt 5 and gt 6, but it wasn’t a premium. And I would love the have this one in gt7. Not gonna happen though, but still….

I wrapped this up after the day one car list for GT7 became more or less known, so there should be no redundant entries.

It is a shame there are no ‘warm hatches’ as @outofspace points out above. Lupo GTI vs Saxo VTS makes for an interesting battle!
:) Yes plus engine swaps could transform them to little missiles cause of their light weight! It's always fun to drive slow cars to their limits in contrast of driving fast cars slow and more controlled! Both are fun but i'll prefer the little ones ;)

If I recall, that E36 Compact is the only E36 to ever appear in GT and for the life of me I can't figure out why. Still no E36 M3 to complete the family. What's so special about the E36 that they can't get one or don't want one? They're all over the place lol.
