Standard cars and PS1-era cars that deserve the Premium treatment in GT7

Wow, the PS1 era graphics are truly horrendous when compared to how we've all been so spoiled today lol. I played GT1 and GT2 with my friends (split screen) and it was a blast. My Dad actually bought me GT1 when I was having an operation in hospital. What an amazing present when I came out!

If I recall, that E36 Compact is the only E36 to ever appear in GT and for the life of me I can't figure out why. Still no E36 M3 to complete the family. What's so special about the E36 that they can't get one or don't want one? They're all over the place lol.
Exactly! I hope that's gonna change soon... Fingers crossed :)

At least it was represented. Took 20 years to finally get and E30. ;)

I think there was a similar sentiment regarding the M3 E30, then we got the Sport Evolution in GTS, and now in GT7, we're gonna get the base version. So we're gonna have two M3 E30s, which I frankly do not mind at all. Especially considering how one's a homologation special and therefore will be harder to get in GT7 compared to the base M3 E30. Not to mention that the base M3 E30 will likely have more color options~

I suppose that's cool but my favorite thing about GT2 was the sheer amount of normal, accessible, affordable cars on offer. My friends and I have actually owned several of the American versions of cars that were in GT2 but probably the most major car that we've personally enjoyed - and one that is fairly common, the E36 M3 - still isn't available to this day. I actually care less about driving cars I can't access than I do about driving cars I can afford or could own. In comparison, because Porsche is a very new brand to GT I can forgive them for not including the 944 despite it being another relatively common, accessible, notable car.

I know. So lame. The e36 M3 was an incredible DTM car. The Lightweight and GT models were rare and really damn nice. Also they were amazing. GT7… no e36s. Wow

Cool car with a ton of cool potential liveries to be made.

Nissan R390 GT1:

Seeing as PD are bringing back nostalgic cars from early GT games, this one should return as it was one of GTs staple cars back in the PS2 gen + I would hate for the CLK-LM to be the only GT1 car of that era. *Yes I know the 1996 F1 GTR is included but it wasn't too competitive against the 1997/1998 GT1 cars.

Same reason as the R390 + it sounds super sick IRL.

2000 Dodge Viper GTS-R

GT Staple like the R390+ the livery options are endless for this car.

2000 Corvette C5-R

Same reason as the GTS-R + it's a direct competitor to the GTS-R.

Toyota GT-ONE

It's a GT-ONE.
Seeing the full car list and how PD actually brought back the F1 GTR longtail along with the GTS-R sorta You can make the GTS look very close to a first gen GTS-R with the widebody+ upgraded bumpers. They should bring back the Panoz and R390, I did a custom race using Gr.2 cars and the GT1 late 90s era cars are actually noticeably faster on the straights than the GT500 by atleast 10-20 MPH, I haven't tested them on a more technical track but there is indeed a slight performance gap and seeing how limited the class is it definitely needs more cars. This updated list will add alot of filler cars for the 80s/90s as they only have 1-2 cars for each class currently:

For Gr.2:

Had to bump up this thread again just to say how much this car deserves to be added to GT7, even though it has already been mentioned here before. A few days ago we had a special presentation race on Suzuka featuring 3 legendary JGTC cars. I want to specifically talk about the 2000 Castrol MUGEN NSX and how Polyphony could forget it to bring the classic JGTC trio back together. It's in prefect shape for the guys at PD to pick it up and scan it, c'mon!

It is officially the standard car I want the most to come back. Yes, even more than the Toyota GT-One and the Nissan R390 GT1.

1997 Mazda Demio GL-X.
This car is not a high performance car. It does not have an illustrious history in motorsports. It was just a cheap hatchback.

But in terms of Gran Turismo history, this car is the starting point for all players and is more important than any other high-performance car or race car.

Well, even if they were to add this car to the game, I don't know if there is a Demio in existence in this world in good enough condition for them to scan...

The Primera 2.0 Te. I think we missed it in GT3, GT5P and GT Sport. However, it's been in all other main GT games. In race trim, it's a championship winning car. Plus, we see the RM in the GT1 intro. Deserves to be fully rendered.
Let's be honest, the average cheap 1990s Japanese car in general needs to return. These were the machines that everyone would pick up as starter car back in early GTs. Technically speaking, despite not having anything interesting on them, Polyphony wrote a piece of history with them and they suddenly became legendary cars. A true GT fan would really appreciate the comeback of a 1st gen Demio... or a '90 Primera... or a Starlet Glanza V... or a CR-X del Sol. All these would put a big smile on my face, more than a Bugatti Chiron addition would.

Ferraris, Porsche and Lamborghinis from JGTC that were planned to be in Gran Turismo 2 should no doubt make their way into game alongside the Nomad Diablo.

Well, my neighbor has a DY Mazda2. Hers is charcoal grey, with a nice dent in the drivers side rear door, but the rest is pretty pristine. They could use hers. I have an '08 Genki, if PD want to scan that. :)

I’ve already mentioned the 190e DTM, but after buying the CLK-LM, we NEED these three:

The CLK-LM is too good. Exterior, interior, engine & exhaust, handling, it’s perfect. I can imagine these three AMG products being top notch quality, in the game.

Yes please...GT6 also had the Monaro. Was shattered it disappeared in GT sport and GT7. Also would like other aussie cars (commodores/falcons) and tracks.

My '05 monaro (heavily modified) at Sandown, I used to love modding up the same car in GT to drive around the world:

Literally thinking of this car when I started building an Australian Diablo GT2 replica(behind the Monaros). The Monaro 427 raced in that series.

Yo, this is a japanese game on its 7th iteration, American cars take a back seat to the R35 GTR, doesnt matter how many versions of that car we get too. It would be nice if we did get a 2000 Cobra R and a C5 Z06.
