I'm really looking forward to this. Watched the trailer loads, i can only hope the film delivers. It's directed by Bryan Singer so it'll probably be good :)

Same here. Of course, there's a chance it will bomb terribly...but the trailer looks pretty awesome.

I'm still a little skeptical, but I also felt the same way when I heard they were making a Spiderman movie and that turned out pretty well.

Damn! I was going to open a new thread regarding that new trailer after seeing it in front of MI:3 this weekend, but you beat me to it! Oh well.

That new trailer is awesome. From the first teaser, I didn't really even want to see it. But from this new trailer, it's a can't miss. Kevin Spacey will bring this one to superhero box office success!

This one is looking good. I really don't like the pick for Lois or Clarks ultra 1970's hairstyle. But in general it's looking good! 👍

Well, everyone says the trailer looks good so I will just have to agree.

I hate Quicktime so Im not going to bother downloading it just to see the trailer.

I actually just saw Batman Begins and was pleased so Im hoping this one will be good as well.

I wish there was a service for Windows Media Player where you could download High Definition trailers like you can for quicktime, because i hate quicktime.

That guy at the end has got to be an idiot! Nice effect though. 👍
Now the question is are they going to go old school B&W TV show style and have the guy throw the gun at him, because that will work after the bullet doesn't. :sly:

Oh, and Kevin Spacey is definitely going to be a great Lex, especially the "Go ahead and say it," line. That was great.

Heh heh, throwing the gun.

Kevin Spacey, like Gene Hackman in the original, is going to make this movie. He is looking much better then I originally thought. In fact, I thought him to be a very bad choice. Not that I think he's a bad actor, just a bad choice for this particular role...well, shows you how much I know. :dunce:

Ew, trailers look pretty lame guys. I think I'll wait for DVD on this one. Spacey does look like he's going to be one of the only reasons to watch. And lots of good effects.

I think I just never liked superman. And what's with the music? We can't get new music?

La la la, I'm not hearing (reading) this.

Do you want the pictures of my fifth birthday party with me in a Superman wife beater and cap with a Superman cake, cups, and plates opening the box for my Superman music box - that played "Jesus Christ Superstar? (I can't help feeling there is something wrong about that)"

While not as big as X-Men I still want to see this. And did you tell Lucas to change the Star Wars theme? No. Since thsi is a continuation and not a retelling I think the original music is very fitting.

I guess you think the Transformers movie shouldn't have any hints of the old theme too? Heck, even Spiderman had that old cheesy Spiderman theme song in the credits, and sung by a street musician in one scene.

This looks great, just watched the third trailer.

Spacey looks surprisingly convincing as Lex Luther, I had my doubts about him too.

Don't worry FoolKiller, I had a Superman themed birthday party too. If this films as good as it looks I might have another.

My wife promised me an X-Men ice cream cake for my birthday this year. She did Spiderman for me two years ago. I love my wife. :D

Alright, I've got to know. What's so great about superman? He has WAAAY too many powers. With someone that powerful there are only two possible plot lines.

1) Innocent person/people is held hostage
2) Kryptonite is used against Superman

Perhaps you could claim a third by combining 1 and 2, but that's it.

I mean, ok sure, the guy can fly. But does he have to be invulnderable to everything? As strong and fast as he needs to be in every situation? Capable of seeing or hearing anything? Capable of lasers coming out of his eyes and frost coming out of his mouth?

Yeah transformers the movie is great! I own it on DVD, it has an awesome soundtrack as well.

Apparently you missed the "Death of Superman" series with Doomsday, where we find out for sure that another alien can kill Superman. Heck even Superman II had three Kryptonian criminals find Earth where they put up a heck of a fight against Superman. In fact he only won by luring them to teh Fortress of Solitude and using the Kryptonian chamber to drain them of their powers.

Plus you have to remember that he was essentially the first comic book superhero and as the only one out there being invulnerable and fighting for what is good in this world (Truth, justice, and the American way!) made him incredibly awesome. Now, in hindsight with all these other superheroes it seems that maybe he is a bit overdone, but when he was created he was all there was. Being overdone is what made him great. Even at times when he lost his powers he was still a hero at heart, stepping up to try and fight, only to get his face beat in.

I think my love for him is that growing up he represented everything that was good in the world. I remember Superman III when he had a personality split and Clark Kent had to battle evil Superman I cried as a kid because Superman was not evil. He didn't purposely cause disasters and hurt people, he saved everyone possible and made everything right in the world. So I guess for me Superman was never about his powers but rather what he stood for.

Not so tough now.

Well, I was referring to the new live action movie coming out next year, but the cartoon movie is awesome.

And your point is? No, honestly, what's your point?

Comics are never about who is going to win, it's about how good the story is until they win. Superman I & II was a great example of this. We all know Sups is the man and pretty much can't be stopped but he's got other things, personal things and of course the whole "a billion people are going to die" situation going on.

It's all in the storytelling. We know for a fact who's going to win in every comic book movie, the only question is: Does it display some realism or is it totally campy.

I don't know, I just get tired of the same plot lines. Spiderman I and II were an excellent example. The girl is always held hostage, or a train full of people or something like that. It just gets old after a while and I start hoping for new plot lines. Maybe for once the bad guy could be more powerful and the good guy has to use his head. Or maybe the bad guys isn't more powerful, but he's tricky and the good guy has to figure out what's going on.

I don't know, all I know is that with superman the options are few.

Uh...you just described the ending in Superman II if you've seen it. :)

 Nope. I guess maybe I should actually read the comics/watch the movies before I criticize right?

I used to watch "Lois & Clark", does that count?

Let me summarize:

Superman: Superman must figure out how to turn back time because Lex Luthor outsmarted him.
Superman II: Superman has to use his brain because he is fighting 3 criminals from his own homeworld, or three supermen, if you will.

You see this is why his nemesis is Lex Luthor, criminal genius. He can easily over power in ordinary thug.

I used to watch "Lois & Clark", does that count?
Um, no. I hope you watched for the same reason I did: Teri Hatcher, because it certainly wasn't the writing, plot, or acting. Or if you were watching for Dean Cain that is cool too, to each his own. :sly:

Is that the one where he reverses the direction of the Earth's rotation in order to turn back time?

Yup... Teri. :)

Bingo! 👍 The science in that movie is so bad it cracks me up. It is as if they decided it was a comic book so nothing has to be believable. Nevermind that Einstein was rolling in his grave over this stuff.

I guess that is why today's comic book movies are better; the writers and directors recognize that outside of their super powers everything must still fit our realm of known physics.
